It’s not cratedigging per se, but a friend and i go to the reuse pad at the dump and just sit there for awhile seeing what goodies people drop off. Last time we went i got 13 cans of beans that weren’t even expired yet! It’s a lot of fun…
Haha fo sho. DJ Shadow really pushed the envelope with his debut album and showed how hip-hop really can be a diverse genre when mixed with other styles of music.
I used to do a little cratedigging, moreso for CDs though. Three of my four favorite record stores are all closed now I’d have to do some research for some new places to dig. But yeah, it’s a fun hobby to have. I need to get back into it – although I don’t even have a way to play CDs now
Sorry to hear about most of your local record stores closing, that’s a shame. We have several here where I live, but I’m kind of intimidated to go in them so I’ve been hitting up the thrift store scene for now .
Oh you could probs find a decent CD player on Amazon for a good price, or even a yard sale I would think, if you were trying to get one to get back into collecting.
With streaming and YouTube and stuff, everything is pretty much right at your fingertips, but actually finding a good CD or record after sifting through tons of duds is pretty great and rewarding too!
It’s great that you can apply your hobby and interest to a path of study Studying is tough as is, so might as well learn about and master stuff you’re truly interested in!
I saw a video zoomed into the micro level of a vinyl player where the grooves send the signal to the player recently. The technology is astonishing to me
