I will have a second bedroom in my new flat, so I have room.
Just worried that my mental illness (s) will prevent me
Also I have a criminal record, but it’s all juvenile - so I hope that wouldn’t stop me either

I needed a letter from my mental health team saying I was fit to parent. I needed 2 more to legally adopt, and things got held up because the judge demanded extra proof.
As far as a criminal record, it depends on the country, but here it doesn’t count against you unless it was a violent or sexual offense, or involved child endangerment.
