I would like to know how safe adhd medication can be for us.
The poll won’t let me vote for some reason. It hasn’t been closed, it just isn’t working. Anyways, I had been diagnosed and take medication that treats both ADHD and my sleep disorder. I will add though, that my doctor is monitoring me very closely and keeping me on a very small dose, because the risk is there.
I’ve never been diagnosed with it but I find it extremely hard to read stuff that I want to read, except this forum, I don’t watch TV or movies or computer games either.
Idk man. Is it the meds or is it just me or, is it both.
Oh. Your poll is the type where you need at least two answers to vote. Do you want me to fix it for you?
Im really interested on talking about this with my new doctor i have read alot on it and i think it has affected my life quite bad .
I’ve never been diagnosed with adhd.
Fix it please that would be nice.
There are other medications for ADHD that aren’t quite as risky as Adderall/Ritalin. Stratera, Wellbutrin, etc. They are dopaminergic, but not quite to the same degree. They are also harder to abuse. Wellbutrin was terrible for me, it made me suicidal. But everyone is different. I know loads of people love Wellbutrin.
The problem with some adhd symptoms its that they can also be confused with negative symptoms i would be convinced they are negative symptoms if i didnt had them all my life and didnt fidget so much.
I love the irony that on the poll about ADHD you made an error on a minor detail that would be typical of someone with ADHD. Poll should work now.
Don’t adhd meds raise dopamine?
So I wouldn’t be surprised if there were some similar mechanisms between adhd and neg symptoms
Since negs are caused by aps which reduce dopamine
The universe has quite a sense of humour
Exactly they are caused by lack of dopamine it happens many times that i get lost, im afraid the doctor would dismiss as negative symptoms and wont even try to test it.
This is the screening tool my pdoc used on me. Maybe it can help you get some insight.
So far alot of the questions answers are very often.
4 often or very often in part A means you likely qualify for a diagnosis, and the part B section informs the doctor about your symptoms. But the symptoms had to have been present before age 7.
I have been diagnosed but my doctor refuses to treat because he says I can fall into psychosis.
It is very likely than, thanks for this document.
Even getting a diagnosis won’t necessarily mean they can treat it, like @anon4362788 said. The only reason my doctor is treating me is because my main diagnosis for my psychotic symptoms got changed from schizophrenia to a sleep disorder. So now I need to take a low low dose of a stimulant in the morning to keep me awake, and a sedative at night to make sure I get proper sleep.
