Economically it was a time of great prosperity for the U.S. Not only did Clinton erase the deficit but he actually left office with a huge surplus. It was a technological boom for the electronics and computer industry. And this was particularly true for the area I live in which is Silicone Valley in California. New technology companies were opening all the time called start-ups. Millionaires were being made every day.
Personally the 90’s were my most productive years. I had a few long term jobs and I returned to college. I got clean and sober in1990 in AA and my first five years I was catching the bus to 5 or 6 meetings per week. I walked all over and took weightlifting classes and I had a VERY physical job and I was in the greatest shape of my adult life. I also lost a few pounds and I looked good (to me anyway, lol).
I also got my second girlfriend and saw her a lot though she moved to a different city. In 1995 I started living independently and I have lived on my own ever since. I also got a car in 1997 after 7 years without one. I was social in AA, CA, and NA and I made a friend and we did a lot of fun stuff. I ended up knowing him for 7 years. At the end of the nineties I had my best job ever, I was a Park Ranger for two years. It was a lot of responsibility.
So yeah, I am going to use all the knowledge I gained back then to get my life back on track again and start doing more now.
Rap music was great during the 90’s. Now it sucks. Cool you were a park ranger. I thought about becoming one but now I’m thinking about doing something else outdoors…like farming. Although tough, less responsibility probably which is good for someone like me.
Then there was the dot com bubble. Over investment and little return. Money saturated to the enterprising Internet guys. I’m sure the car companies, housing market, and fancy restraints got all that money. Let alone the dealers and prostitutes.
Good luck dude. I need to get more involved in life. I might start looking for some bs job where I don’t have to talk to people.
I was going to say that it was a good time for the USA, but it was a miserable time for me because I was on Haldol. When I got put on Geodon and Seroquel life got a lot better.
Sheryl Crow is great, so is R.E.M. And early days Red hot chili peppers…Genesis and one more 90’s band they play on the classic rock station already I can’t seem to think of right now.
Oh and Ace of Base-All that she wants. Pearl Jam. All the post-grunge. Metallica… Lots of good music in the nineties but I prefer 1968-1972 for my favorite years for my music.
I spent the nineties bringing up my daughter. Was on Seroquel, Zyprexa and Risperidone. Got in an auto accident and totaled my car. My father died in 1993. That decade seems like just yesterday. As I get older, time ceases to have any meaning. Got my first computer in 1997. Bought my second home in 1995. Now I don’t have any money of my own.
On a whim I moved from Michigan to North Carolina in 1990. In 1991, I got pregnant. In 1992, I had my beautiful daughter. 1993 I moved back to Michigan. 1994 I had emergency gall bladder surgery. 1995 I moved to a city that I lived in for the next 20 years. 1999 I bought my first and last house.
Yeah, there was some great music in that period. It was the tail-end of Beatles music and the beginning of Led Zeppelin.
And arguably, the peak of The Rolling Stones music.

[/quote]I was drinking and getting drunk and mixing liquer with codiene. took some tokes off a joint with my peers in my nieghborhood. The bam came down with depression and schizophrenia in 93
I was in high school from 91-95. Those were some nice but terrifying years. I had a hard time being in social situations. In 1999 I packed up the truck I had at the time and I moved from Illinois to Las Vegas Nevada. I only lived there a year but it was a fun year. Luckily I moved back home because shortly after or while I was there I started to get sick… It was a confusing time.
Mom died from breast cancer in 1993. Hospitalized for the first time in 1994 and promptly diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia. I was 12. Spent 1995-1999 in a state hospital, thinking I’d never get out. Finally liberated, I struck out on my own in 2000. Haven’t seen the insides of a hospital since. Got to see lots of cool trends come and go. Fell in love with grunge music, which I still adore.
Joined the USAF in 1991 got medically discharged in 1995. Spent the rest of 1995 and some of 1996 homeless in Sacramento CA. Then came home and spent the rest of my time to the present day in South Georgia
