About people putting pressure on themselves

I don’t do well when under pressure, or stressed. I’m also someone who’s very prone to the detrimental effect of test anxiety.

Thank you so much to all of you ! :+1:

You helped me !

I have another question : Why certain people like me can’t manage stress as a schizophrenic.
I mean, some of you here have social activities or work.
How does my brain react to stress ? Is that a specificity of schizophrenia ? What happens in the brain of a schizophrenic when someone or something put a lot of pression/stress on him ?
Why can’t we manage stress as well as a “normies” ?

I could have been a perfectionist, if people could have ever left me alone. Opposite types have always tried to make my life disgusting.

This is exactly me… It’s some kind of really unhealthy form of motivation that does not come from a good place

However, how else can you push through issues and succeed without high standards?

It has driven me into the ground, and I am ready to give up now I know the mental health services don’t have my back any more

Good question. How does a SZ brain process stress differently to a normal brain? I have an idea about this, but it is just my own theory.

You know how if you practice something often enough you start to do it without thinking? Well I think our brains learn how we like to manage stress, and then our brain just repeats whatever we did in the past, except now we don’t have conscious control. Whatever we did repetitively in the past soon becomes automated.

For me, I used to ignore things (e.g. homework) until the last minute, and then panic. I was avoiding anxiety for as long as possible. Then my brain took over this avoidance, and I could barely even remember if I had homework to do or not. I just felt panicked before class and I didn’t know why.

Does that sound nuts? What do you think.
