About casual relationships

I got ■■■■■■ up in the relationships I’ve been. There were nice things about them, tho.

But in balance I learned that casual sex (not even a short affair) was more related with how I am. Maybe I don’t want, or I’m scared to know new people and let them into my life.

What about you? What do you prefer?
-casual relationships
-short affairs
-long afairs
-long term relationships.

I’m with @Twialine. I’m married (21 years) and like it that way.
I honestly can’t even imagine a casual relationship or any sort of affair.

Wow that’s a long time of being with someone! My husband and I celebrate our second wedding anniversary in May! And I’m with you, I couldn’t even think of being with someone else

@Twialine @Happy_H I believe a healthy relationship is a big source of happiness and wellbeing aswell.

@Happy_H congrats on hitting the 20 mark! A lot of people can’t do that

Thanks! I know that a lot of people frown on age gap relationships, and my hubby is older than I. The truth is, with all of my MI symptoms coming out, if not for his maturity and experience (his mom had MI), I don’t know that we could have possibly made it. The only problem I have with the age difference is life expectancy; that really scares me.

@Happy_H my husband is 4 years older than me! May I ask how big y’all’s age gap is? I won’t judge (I have dated a guy that was 10 years older before)

He’s 52, and I’m 39.

I’m too unattractive to date so I gave up years ago

Other people make it look so easy

@Happy_H I’m so glad y’all found each other and make each other happy!

Heads would be rolling if my 17 year old started dating a 29 year old, so I’m a bit of a hypocrite about it.

@Happy_H I do think 17 is a little young to get with a lot older man but once the 17 year old turns 18 I see nothing wrong with it

Add on: I’d say the same about a 17 year old man too

I can’t say I disagree. I don’t think most stories like mine end with a happily ever after.

True but I’m glad you found your happily ever after

If you are stable (first step, obviously) you can make an effort to look good.

Long term relationship.
I’ve been married 20 years, together for 21.

He’s dealing with numerous serious health issues, but I will no doubt be a celibate widow.

Oh, and he’s five years younger. I’m turning 53 in a month, he is turning 48 in early March.

The nurse yesterday in the ER said she’s 8 years older than her husband. She’s got me beat! :slightly_smiling_face:

I prefer casual but strong friendships… that’s cuz I was sexually abused as a child and now I’m a 49-year-old virgin and am very happy with that. That way everybody knows that sexual relationships are not something I partake in.
