About a friendship I've cut

I’m thinking about this friendship that I’ve cut. I don’t normally cut friendships out. However, this person was lending money from me to buy food, while hanging out with friends. She borrowed 25 dollars, and another 25 dollars, and then never returned it again. I told my mom this, and my mom said to me: “Just don’t talk to her again. She just wants the money.” So I followed my mom’s advice, and I cut the friendship on Facebook. I never talked to her again.

But now I feel bad about it. I feel bad that I cut the friendship because she continuously asked for money. She’s also an Aboriginal person. I feel bad because I feel that she was in a bad situation, and needed money really badly. I know that she had money to go to a Hedley concert on a First Class seat. It didn’t make sense to me at that time other than disrespect.

I feel horrible about it. Did I make a good decision of cutting the friendship?

I would say that you’ve made the right move. It is always very tricky when friendships involve money. If she had money to go on a first class seat, then she has money to give back to you.

You ask two questions with different potentially different answers before the survey.

I think you made the right move too.

Ah, gotcha. I’ll fix it.
