Abilify Yes or No? What to expect?

Hi

I wonder if you can enlighten me about abilify, I’m about to be prescribed this as a side drug to help me with depression and so on.

I read somewhat mixed reviews and I’m confused at this point. Even some of them was really good, I still not convinced taking this drug. Is it worth or should I stay away? I’d like to hear your take on it. Thanks in advance.

It could raise your blood sugar so get regular (like every 6 months) blood tests. It raised mine and I was put on metformin which works great.

I assume youre going to be on 5mg for depression?

What AP are you on ?

Hey and thanks, pdoc will put me on small dose, I don’t have the number now. My main ap is solian 400mg.

I’m aware some side effects and also worrying if I can successfuly quit this in future.

Maybe I should watch my diet as well to help with weight gaining etc

It did increase my appetite UNTIL I started taking a bcomplex. Then my appetite went back to normal.

I take this “low powered” bcomplex(just 100% of the rda of b vitamins)

I found that high powered bcomplexes (like 1,000% rda) seemed to interact with abilify to give me chest pressure. Your experience might be different though.

At 5mg I think the main issues for me were appetite increase. Can’t exercise. N more sleep needed. But it varies for other people. It is apaarently not meant to increase weight according to my psychiatrists. But it still happens I don’t know to what proportion of people though

I take abilify and have mixed feelings.

It did help manage my symptoms,

But not totally.

I also suspect its preventing me from losing weight,

I’ve not gained on abilify, but I’ve not lost any either.

Its a good medication, you should try it for a few months and see how it works for you.

Many people find Abilify too activating.
I did. Just beware of this.
