Abilify side effects

I’m on 30mg of abilify. I’ve noticed my symptoms are a lot better. However I’ve gained a lot of weight and I feel very lethargic and kinda mentally “out there” a lot.

Anyone else have these side effects?

Hi Judy, just sort of disoriented and spaced out.

can’t say that I have had that from the abilify I take but I did gain weight.

I found it to be an excellent drug for me but each individual is different.

abilify makes you unable to focus on a train of thought(individually varies). Impossible to read.

I’ve noticed that! I have difficulty staying focused on one task. And it’s hard to read, which really sucks because I love books.

Yeah I know. There is a risk of short term memory loss on abilify. Its much easier on Invega/risperidone or nothing.

I’m on 30 MG and DON’T experience these side-effects. I gained a healthy weight when I started abilify…I was underweight. Then went up to a normal weight when I started 10 MG. But haven’t gained any weight since increasing it past 10 mg…

And the lethargy I don’t get either. But I’m one of the lucky ones when it comes to meds.

Right on. I see my psychiatrist at the end of November, I’ll have to tell him about my negative symptoms. Hopefully there’s something else he can put me on.

Abilify was greatly disabling for me - added about 20 lbs in three months to my total body mass disproportionately, it also messed with my physical cravings for sugars & fats, and caused an excessive addictive drive in more ways than one.

The worst of symptoms was intense anxiety. I felt neurotic & greatly out-of-touch with anything & everything but total suffering. I think I suffered from intense nerve damage, though, and that AP’s cause extreme symptoms in my case.

Besides the crippling Anxiety and Paranoia, Abilify made me feel spaced out/zoned out.

I was on doses over 20 mg and definitely felt more “drugged” up on Abilify, felt this way on the lower doses also.

I also feel spaced out too. Lots of lack of motivation also.

On 10 mg,Abilify makes me lethargic and severely depressed! I feel the negative symptoms get worse on a higher dose! I’m much better on a lower dose

I actually got an increase in physical strength from Abilify, which is strange for an antipsychotic. It got me a little too amp’ed up, though. I couldn’t maintain as well as I needed on it.

Abilify at 15mg made me lethargic and tired as hell. The tiredness did not went away. So i quit it.

Remember abilify has half life of 3 days.

I’m lowering my abilify back to 25 mg btw. As the meds have taken effect more ice been feeling shittier.

I’m on 15mg of Abilify…

I’ve experienced-

  • weight gain

  • lethargy

  • low libido

But it’s better than going off of the rails like I used to so I’m sticking with the regime…at least for now anyways.
