Main question : i took 3 shots of abilify 400 mg every month with the last shot a month ago. They switched me to oral medication…how long will rwecovery take ?..im still on 5 mg tablets because of a CTO.
Secondary question: When does the akathesia and restlessnness end ? What is the timetable of side effects
Hey dude I’m on abilify too. Depends on the situation. I thibk usually it start working after 2-4 weeks of taking it, but it gradually continues to get better and better over the following months. My advice would be to stay on the meds or I think it’s possible to become permanent
For me it took about 2-3 weeks and then the side effects diminished. Everyone is different but Abilify is the best for people on a certain spectrum of mental health conditions, various symptoms. If you keep taking it and don’t stop taking it as prescribed until you feel recovered and safe enough to add or ask your doctor about different medications that might be better for you if you are new to taking psychotropics. You should tell your doctor or psychiatrist how you’re feeling and about the side effects. Ask them if there is anything they can add for it. I think there are some add ons for abilify that work against side effects.
I have been on other meds. For me it helps mostly because I have schizoaffective which is similar to manic depression combined with the capacity to have uncomfortable hallucinations. My illness has suddeny been getting worse, so I asked to increase Abilify for the first time in several years from 10-15 mgs. If you stay on it you may not need as much medication but support is important.
I have been on amisulpride 800 mg and abilify 20mg, the amisulpride have been tapered down, and I continued taking the abilify since 2018. To tell you the truth I couldn’t stop the abilify, hallucinations kept returning back, as well as getting distracted, thinking disorder and paranoia. Recently I am seeing a new doctor and trying to replace the abilify, I don’t know the results yet.
I also thought about mixing Abilify with Amisulpride. However, I was concerned that Amisulpride can raise prolactin. Abilify reduces my prolactin levels, but I am too afraid to take Amisulpride as it usually kills people’s sex drive. I took it for a couple of days and stopped.
By the way, if Abilify is helping you, why do you want to get off it? Side effects?
Yeah Amisulpride does raise your prolactin pretty high. Abilify by time stopped having its effects, i still have bad sleeping patterns, thinking disorder and flash backs it’s not helping as it used to. Maybe I got addicted to it
That’s one of the meds I’ve been on over the years. Didn’t do well with it. Not on any APs currently (I’m a rarity here in that department). A lot of people here who only had one episode would have had a lot more if not put on APs right away. It also takes time to get an SZ diagnosis so it may be a case of you not having schiz …yet.
My propanlol is prescribed for anxiety also, just from some online research it is supposed to also prescribed for akathesia. I want to ask my pdoc about dosages as im still experiencing social anxiety and akathesia daily
Thats no good! i understand shaking and anxiety bc ive got dyskinesia both of my arms shake and i have a restless legs type of sensation alot of the time that it happens. These AP are strong medications
