hi, my pdoc wants to give me abilify instead of risperdal (which I have been consuming and increases my appetite a lot) I am very fat 
What advantages does abilify have over risperdal?

This year I start university and I want to start it well
Its good if it doesnt cause addictions, hypersexuality, anxiety and akathisia. Not to scare you but these are possible side effects. I experienced the addictions/spending and hypersexualiy side effects. I was on 20mg Abilify for 8 years.
Finding the right meds is personal trial and error. Abilify may work out for you or it may not. You’ll only know after you’ve been on it for a while.
Abilify works for me though.
I had to stop the Abilify as the side effects gradually got worse and it was too much to control. My spending was out of control with lots of debts and gambling.
Idk, it may have made me crave food a lot.
It is OK though.
My hair got thinner
I have had good luck with it
Like @everhopeful said, its trial and error. Risperdal is better for me than Abilify but for him Abilify works. We all have different body chemistry and genetics.
i wanted to start abilify but pdoc didnt want me on it, she wanted to start capylta instead.

Still the best med I’ve been on.
Edit: it’s also cheap. It’s about $30 for a 90 day supply
O it’s like gambling and sex! I felt great but yea i had a gambling and shopping addiciton from it.

Abilify has its moments. I’ve been on it for a little over a year now. I was still having break through symptoms but I’m pretty good now. I’ve never been on risperdal to compare though… all I can say is abilify is way better than invega.
Ability could be great but I lost money and took out loans
A lot of money like whole paychecks and it definitely came to over 100k I made 40 thousand the first threee years on it and then got a job making 70ish and still gambled that all of it for a couple years then went to haldol
I am 8 years on Abilify. I had breakthrough symptoms at times. I’m on 25mg. For me I’m doing better on it than Risperdal, Clopixol or Olanzapine
Abilify is a weaker drug then some. It’s worked fine for me though.
