A new outlook

I just find it odd how we tell all suicidal/psychotic people on here to go to the hospital or call a hotline if symptoms act up.

Cant we have questions or something of the matter that people can refer to ?

What else can we do? We’re not doctors and we don’t know the person. Hospitals are pretty much the only safe place if someone is having psychosis or suicidal thoughts.

It’s the correct advice to give.

Telling the psychotic person to go to the hospital is the right thing to do.

@Wave @everhopeful @nfy I guess you guys are right … but if they’re coming on here, surely they dont want to go to a hospital ??

As @nfy has said, we arent doctors. Most of us aren’t even trained in crisis management. When people are in a crisis they need professionally trained people to help them.

The most we can offer here is an empathetic ear and the good advice of talk to a professional.

Sorry, but I’m not sure what other outlook we could or should have.

I normally try to talk to them about why they feel that way.

When I post here about matters that need hospital attention, I’m really looking for someone to push me to go to the hospital because I keep rationalizing not going.
Sure, it’d be nice to talk about what’s bothering me, but none here are professionals
