That’s how I delt with it. I took it a little too far but it worked for me since I always felt like I was being attacked.
I thought I was a samurai and had sword issues. My tag line in the 90s was “I have swords for the fight”. Luckily I found a legal outlet to swing them called Iaido.
Warriors have an ulterior purpose for their acts which has
nothing to do with personal gain. The average man acts only if
there is a chance for profit. Warriors act not for profit, but for
the spirit.
For the average man, the world is weird because if he’s not
bored with it, he’s at odds with it. For a warrior, the world is
weird because it is stupendous, awesome, mysterious, unfathomable.
A warrior must assume responsibility for being here, in this
marvelous world, in this marvelous time.
Impeccability begins with a single act that has to be
deliberate, precise and sustained. If that act is repeated long
enough, one acquires a sense of unbending intent which can be
applied to anything else. If that is accomplished the road is
clear. One thing will lead to another until the warrior realizes
his full potential.
The basic difference between an ordinary man and a warrior is
that a warrior takes everything as a challenge, while an ordinary
man takes everything as a blessing or as a curse.
A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That’s
control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go.
That’s abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind.
No one can push him, no one can make him do things against himself
or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive and
he survives in the best of all possible fashions.
~ Carlos Castaneda
I once blurted out in a weird stressed voice to my pdoc, “I am a warrior!”
I turned my anger about stuff against the disease. I was going to prove those demon docs wrong about me.
They were wrong about me. But back then they didn’t have weapons like the meds of today.
I was in a Native Circle 20 years ago that incorporated Casteneda teachings into their life. We actually practiced that and I will tell you it works. I did not fully practice everything taught as the teachings in their full form would make you an ascetic mystic with few possessions…I did however apply that part of the teachings when i was homeless and was content with what I had at the time, though I also applied warrior teachings to shift my place in the world. I think I have what i have now because I was able to give up everything and live by faith and intent with nothing, as well as meeting heavy challenges.
Here is a link with a lot of the Warrior teachings:
I really like your attitude @san_pedro!!
