A different kind of fun(?) list. All the jobs you've been fired from?

I can see why most people would not think a list like this is fun but in a weird way I’m kind of proud of it. It’s a lesson in perseverance for sure. But also a ridiculous number of jobs to be fired from. On the other hand I was successful at many other jobs. I worked three years at HP. Four years at Sears. 2 years as a park ranger etc. What’s your list if you want to give it?

1978-1979

Busboy at restaurant
Carpet cleaning
Driving job
Gas station
Tobacco company
Gas station
Restaurant prep cook
Restaurant prep cook again
Carpet cleaner again

Hospitalized and group homes 1980-82

1983–

Hot tub technician
Prep cook

I was only ever fired from one job, as a nanny, because I came out as gay and the mom decided she didn’t want her daughter around all that. It broke my heart, because her daughter was definitely attracted to girls and told me all about her crush on her classmate.

I was fired from my first job as everybody was going on holiday and they didn’t think I had the age or experience to be on my own there. I was 18.

I quit a lot of jobs before they got around to firing me.

wel…i was in a job for 7 years!..but then i became psychotic …and those ■■■■■■■■ wont give me a refernece,if they did not like me enough to give me a reference which is the law they should have sacked me during my illness…stupid idiots

so in conclusion no i was not fired but they should have…

I was let go from a job because I said no when they asked me to work overtime on a regular basis in the summerholliday. They didn’t technically fire me, they just didn’t renew my contract as a temp. But I know that was the reason although they said nothing. There was another temp that started a few weeks after me, and they kept him.

I used to work a contract for BP. But I was constantly screwing things up cuz I was showing up drunk from the night before. I went prodromal <6 months earlier; & didn’t start meds for another 7 years.

The job was the highlight of my short lived corporate career.

I was once unfairly fired, because a Supervisor didn’t like me. She claimed I didn’t understand a simple test when I was a Medical Technologist, because she was mad about screwing up a test. It was just a test where you look for a reaction under a microscope. All my classes I had to identify things under a microscope, I got a 4.0 in. I later got a 93% on an exam to be a Laboratory Scientist. She just didn’t like me. I also got fired once, because I was not interested in my job and was more interested in a real estate job I was working at, at the same time.

I was only fired once. I was a barista at a small coffee shop where my friends worked. I worked days and they worked nights. One night we drove around (we were all emplyees) spray painting Obey ensignia everywhere and we hit the coffee shop. I quit but they convinced me to stay on and then they got me on camera and fired me. That was one angry phone call. The rest of my jobs I just quit without telling anyone, stopped showing up. I have a terrible work record.

I was just fired once but I quit over 10 jobs after having sz. It wasnt really firing but they opened a new supermarket closing the old one, they said they will choose who will continue to work in the new store. They never called me to work in the new store. But my friend who still works there told me that they said that I was slow at work.

Really my sz made me fire myself by quitting on my own all my jobs after max 1 month.

I rage quit without giving notice then they call me asking why I am not at work.

Got fired twice.

The construction one i was 18, the boss fired me and said “this gig aint for you bub”. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Hire the handicapped. When they find a job they can do, they show incredible loyalty.

I’ve left a lot of jobs that ended up going bust. Like this happened with four business and they were big enough places. I wouldn’t hire me on that record. I’ve only been sacked from one. Vehicle accessory fitter. The production manager got me before I got him over some union stuff. It was a good move on my part as I moved to a much better job that paid heaps more.

I’ve never been fired. I quit plenty.

Can only remember being fired from a single job. I used to work bobsled track maintenance at Canada Olympic Park in Calgary, AB, before the 1988 winter Olympics. I’d walk up and down the track at night with a pail of snow, shovel, and backpack with water. I’d pack snow into the gouges in the track and spray them down so they froze smooth.

We used to ride shovels down the track in the dark. You’d sit in the bucket and use the handle for a brake. I got clocked doing about 65 mph one night. Manager eventually caught me and my goose was cooked.

Totally worth it.

That sounds like a cool job.

I was only canned on one job which was my last job where I worked for a subsidiary of Hallmark printing custom greeting and business cards. It was a blow to my ego but that manager did me a favor by letting me go. Was being written up left and right. I called in sick a lot. That company was pretty generous with me though. Made it a year and a half.

:grinning:

I was a counter girl at my aunt’s Dairy Queen.
My aunt fired me.

I was fired from every babysitting job I ever held.
I ignored the kids and let them run the streets.

I was fired from my job at a telemarketing company.
I made a personal call on the company Watts line which was strictly prohibited.

I was fired from a nursing job working night shift.
I fell asleep on the job. I also became hospitalized due to suicidality.

I was fired from another nursing job working night shift.
I rerouted medications from the patients supply. And was dumb enough to tell someone about it.

I was fired from multiple part-time volunteer positions too numerous to mention.

As I got older, it became harder and harder for me to get and hold down jobs. Even volunteer jobs became impossible for me to hang on to. And I tried many. Usually always the problem was my “inappropriateness” due to my sza.
