I did do good at working at a marina for boats I cleaned the yard and was told I was one of there best workers then my eyesight started failing and I needed a cornea transplant

Edit: they told my dad I was one of there best workers not me :joy:

I’m lacking in this department. I’ve never been fired in my entire working life. I did quit several times myself. I guess I save the honors for myself.

Only had 4 employers in my entire working life!

I worked while legally blind trying to clean cars because I was in denial of my vision being “that bad” I got a job working in a dog and cat shelter however I was allergic to cats and I tried to hide it the one thing I didn’t lose due to vision is helping the school with ASD nonverbal kids I did it graduated then i relapsed and it took 7 years to find the right med which is haldol and lamictal rn i would be dead without those 2

I’ve worked for my mom’s business
A Development Agency
The Air Force
A Canadian Multinational

I did volunteer in several places in addition, and got a job offer for the Belgian IRS but didn’t start because I didn’t feel ready (because of sz).

Oh well here’s some advice if you ever go anywhere in Canada whatever you do go in either May June July and August if you can September might be ok but in late September you don’t wanna come here to Canada

Winter sucks that’s all I can say

I never understood why so many people want to move to Canada given the brutal winters.

I was actually once in Canada in the summer. Visiting Niagara Falls when I was 18.

Theres marineland there but back on topic: the absolute second they figure out I have a mental illness AND physical disabilities I’m f*cked I will lose the job despite the “disability rights law” we both know disabled people get fired just for being disabled

I actually got my first psychosis when working for a Canadian company and they didn’t fire me. I relocated back to Belgium and worked in Brussels for 7 months before relapsing and quitting myself.

My advice: getting fired teaches you how to cope with failure. Learning how to cope with failure is something you really need. Therefore, if you get fired, you are still gaining something from the experience.

I would just think that it wasn’t meant to be. A closed door ultimately leads to a new open door and a potential better match.

How do you handle the interviews and job applications afterwards? I’ve never been fired but also have a huge fear of it.

I’ve always quit beforehand if I think I might get fired.

They always ask if they can contact your previous employer

You could mention ‘references available on request’ and see if they want to check and if so you could mention other employers.

But luckily they don’t ask in Belgium. When I applied for the Government job 2 years ago they didn’t care I hadn’t worked for 10 years and was disabled. They just offered me a job based on the selection tests and interview.

Soon employers will know the last time you went to the bathroom, thanks to your smart toilets database being available on google searches.

“I see here that you went twenty six hours without any toilet activity…hmmmm…interesting”

As far as the main question goes. If you never try, you won’t fail at anything, but you won’t succeed at anything either.

I’m filling out an application that asks if they can contact each previous and current employer @TheFountainPen . It’s already on just the app before there’s even an interview.

I’ve never been fired but did have issues at my last 2 workplaces due to the Navy SEALs coming into my office and harassing me

Maybe that isn’t the right employer for ya.

If they really are that difficult I wouldn’t bother.

But that’s just me.

They can only contact your previous employer if you put your previous employer on your resume. There isn’t some universal hiring manager database where they can look it up. If I get fired, I just don’t list that job. Then they don’t call that employer, and I don’t have any issues.
