My focus and concentration are not good,so I haven’t been reading any. For some reason it popped into my head to get some Hardy Boys mysteries. I read one and finished it without taxing myself too much. I’ve since ordered all the books in the series from Amazon. I used to read these books when I was a tween. I’m embarrassed to admit that I’m reading them.
There’s a reason the young adult genre is so popular. It’s not embarrassing if you’re enjoying it! I spend most of my day reading books meant for toddlers. So you’re miles ahead of me!
Yes I enjoyed reading it. I remembered the plot from when I was younger. I kinda felt alive again.
I love the Hardy Boys!
I am having difficulty with focus.
I was thinking about reading the Hardy Boys again.
Brings back good times.
Hey @anon54988740 - that’s a great idea! “Hardy Boys” are classics! Enjoy!
I loved my Hardy Boys books! Fond memories…
I read the entire set of the “Nancy Drew” series that ended up in my closet when the neighbor’s kid decided they were too grown up for them anymore.
Fine with me, I was bored outta my skull one day and opened one up- I was hooked!
I’ve always wanted to reread one and see if they still hold their magic on me.
Haven’t read “the hardy boys,” although I watched the TV series religiously…Gawd do I feel old now,but so what.
It’s better than the alternative.
No, embarrassing is reading all your sisters Nancy Drew mystery books.
The book series I read most recently was “Deltra Quest” which is an adventure fantasy for kids. I liked the first few volumes of this series borrowed from the library, then later got all the volumes from Amazon.
I’ve never read the Hardly Boys. I’m a Sherlockian myself.
i used to love those books!
@Csummers…was there a hardy boys tv series
It’s okay. I color in children’s coloring books because my focus isn’t good enough for adult coloring books and they stress me out with how many little tiny things I have to color.
When I was new to sz, I could hardly read for a couple of years. So I read y/a fiction, like A Wrinkle in Time over again, and Lewis Carroll and easy-reading myths and folklore, etc. Gradually worked my way to textbooks and finished my degree.
I think it’s a good idea to start out with something simple and familiar and it sounds like you enjoy it.
Glad to know other adults enjoy these, too.
I grew up reading the Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew. I still read them, when I want something easy to read, when my focus isn’t the best.
I have a few other ones I keep around, for these times.
Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children is another good, easy-reading trilogy, I recommend.
Also, The Nine Lives of Chloe King.
The last one is a bit cheesy and girly, but still good.
