I love to read. I’ve been an avid reader my whole life and luckily my concentration has always been good, for the most part. I used to love to read history when I was in my 20’s through 40’s. Now, I like to read Catholic religious books and also classic novels. I just got done reading Bram Stoker’s “Dracula”. Now, I’m reading Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s “Sherlock Holmes” Volume I and II. I’m in the middle of Volume I now. My son bought me both volumes a few months before he died 5 years ago, so they are special to me. I’m a bit of an anglophile, don’t ask me why. For the world of me, I don’t know why. It’s not my heritage. Anyway, I’m also reading a book I’m borrowing from the place where I live. It’s called: “Discovering Britain and Ireland” by Peter Crookston. It’s fascinating. Has gorgeous photography. It’s put out by National Geographic so that’s to be expected.
I’ve been to England and Scotland. I’ve never been to Ireland. These lands were indeed gorgeous and fascinating. Scotland is my heritage. A quarter anyway.
Right now I’m reading through Atlas Shrugged and Ayn Rand’s general philosophy. I generally read horror/suspense novels as well as YA (young adult) fiction from time to time. Also am amassing a collection of open source textbooks to learn more about a variety of subjects.
I’m not reading anything right now, but I have gone through periods where I was passionately into reading. One work I’ve been meaning to read is “The Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire”. I’ve read a lot of Shakespeare, and when I was on my big literary kick I read a lot of Henry James. That was a long time ago. Presently, I occassionally read some Shakespeare. I also like John Grisham, just for pure reading pleasure. My brother looks down on him, but I like reading his works. I’ve thought about re-reading “The Hobbit”, just for reading pleasure, if I can find a copy of it. I keep hoping I can get into a good reading binge again. It felt pretty good the first time.
I’m reading a fantasy dungeons and dragons novel that is a paper back trilogy. I’m on book six of the series but haven’t read for awhile now. I may do that later tonight and tomorrow during therapy, who knows.
Currently reading A Tree Grows in Brooklyn. It was on the classics section in the library. Discovering Britain and Ireland sounds luck an interesting read. Might try it later.
I really like to read, but depression made my love for it fade. But I’m trying to get back into the habit. Just today I went to the bookstore and got Anne Frank’s book. I’m pretty excited because I was obsessed with her when I was 12 and I’m finally getting a chance to read the book for myself.
Shallow Graves (The Haunted #1) Patrick Logan the main story I’m reading.
Answering 911: Life in the Hot Seat Caroline Burau --started re-reading this to help me with a story I’m working on so I’ll finish it after Shallow Graves
The New American Bible Anonymous I read this off on and on…I’ve taken the challenge to read the bible front to back…but it’s taking me longer to get through it than anything else I’ve ever read.
I started one of those “Jack Reacher” books a few months ago but didn’t have the mental stamina to get through it. It’s hard since I can’t picture the characters and scenes in my head from the written descriptions. I have always been that way but in my youth never saw it as a barrier to reading
I’m currently reading through the book of Acts in the Bible. I love to read but have issues with concentration and find reading very difficult, often having to read and re-read the same passage over and over again.
I’m so sorry. I had that problem only once in my life. It freaked me totally out. I was going through a lot of anxiety about buying a house at the time.
