This is an interesting idea… why cold?

I think it might just jolt me to wake me up more. It seemed to work today

I get it.

How long does it take you to warm up after?

ah its pretty quick about 30 mins.

I used to do it to try and focus more with my head circus. Extreme and very temporary.

Some do swear by it though. You know go for morning swims in icy cold water etc.

I’m a very avid swimmer. I love open water… but not without a wet suit.

I did a polar bear plunge a year ago… I found that a cold jolt is a bit triggering. I was so scattered for a day or two… and the energy it took to warm up again made me so lethargic.

Hypothermia and I are not friends.

Sounds uncomfortable levelJ1. Maybe you could take a nice hot shower and then splash cold water on your face from the sink faucet.

@anon31257746,while I was on Nofap which means no pornography and masturbation I had done 30 days of cold shower, maybe a little less or more, can’t remember exactly.I got used to the cold shower after 2 weeks,I do cold shower because people on the net said doing cold showers could help reduce the urge to masturbate and watch porn,it really did…when I do cold shower I feel like a bad person because I felt like I am torturing myself :frowning:

I used to take cold showers when I was in my teens. It was because they submerge you in cold water in SEALs training.

Now I take hot showers and smoke cigarettes. I still look like a dangerous person.

Maybe cold showers do something for you, but I think they suck. I want some trazodone. I can’t sleep.

good luck op, i wont have a cold shower unless there is no hot water

We used to be given cold showers as a punishment in the morning at boarding school. It was invigorating at first but by lunchtime you were struggling to keep your eyes open.

Hello levelJ1, how are you?

My name is Hayden and I’m new to this forum. I have been diagnosed with schitzophrenia.

I’m assuming some of the users on here have also been diagnosed with schitzophrenia.

I came across your post while google searching for any information regarding personal/anecdotal or clinical evidence which relates to the effects of cold showers on persons with schitzophrenia.

My own personal hypothesis is that cold showers may exasserbate the symptoms of schitzophrenia because of the fact the it can increase dopamine density in ones brain.

I have been told by doctors that schitzophrenia may be caused by or related to too much dopamine.

LevelJ1 what are your thoughts about my post to you? And what were the results from your experience with the 30 days of old showers?

Kind regards,
Hayden

honestly it never did much of anything for me other than I was very cold!

cheers

I’ve done it in the past, and it goes deeper than just cold water running over your body. It touches you at primal level. (Meditating on bravery upon exposure etc)

As I go now in remission (past hospitalization) I’m starting cold showers again, just as soon as fix my sleeping schedule.

Good luck, and please report your ongoing experiences, I guarantee you’ll gain some new insights.

Did they really need to include that sentence?

Try my model of self cleanliness and you only need to take 3 to 4 cold showers a month!
