$1200 Later: An Observation šŸ’ø

Be careful with credit. I walked away from a lot of debt about 10 years ago and stopped using credit forever. Totally sworn off. It was very liberating.

Recently though I financed a mattress, my mom talked me into it, said it would help build my credit, but I still hate it. I’m probably going to pay it off early regardless of the zero interest.

I figured a mattress is an essential and definitely something I would get use out of.

Hang in there @Schztuna. I’ve found mental illness to be an expensive affair but there’s some good advice in this thread. I got rid of my credit card years ago and never went back to credit. Mind you I don’t have a lot of money so it’s an easier thing for me to deal with. Hope your back to better. Money troubles you can fix…health ones are harder.

For those who say its controllable without meds, you’re wrong. I have tried everything while on Abilify before reaching to my pdoc, he said the only way to get rid of my Abilify induced mania was to stop the Abilify, this worked 100%. No more shopping addiction or mania now on 6mg Risperdal. He didn’t even put me on mood stablizers as my diagnosis is SZ. The mechanism by which Abilify can cause similar symptoms to mania is called Dopamine Dysregulation Syndrome, its caused by dopamine agonists.

Idk if mood stabilizers would work for Abilify induced mania as they might be different mechanisms than SZA or bipolar. My pdoc said they don’t work for that so I guess its different mechanisms. I never experienced mania before being on Abilify. Wikipedia says dopamine agonists can induce hypomania.

For heaven’s sake not Depakote. That stuff is dangerous. I was on it and had to get periodic blood work because it’s so toxic.

Yea, the world of mood stabilizers is pretty treacherous territory.

The lamictal personally helped me crazy with the manic spending situation.

Just didn’t seem I could hold onto my money. Since years ago….when I’m down to a couple bucks I felt better. Well I never didn’t have my basic needs met .but Lamictal made me smarter about my spending. Errr. Less manic spending!!…. I’d say.

I’m gonna be smarter now !!
