“It’s not information overload. It’s filter failure.” ― Clay Shirky

I like that perspective…

Thank you for that.

BUt what does it meeeaaaannnn??? ?

I’m taking it to mean… there is the same amount of stuff out there for everyone…

Some people can filter it and not let it hinder their day.

Some people like me… can’t let it go… can’t filter it out… once I can’t filter it… I can’t make sense of it either.

That’s just me… statements like this are sort of like abstract art… could be a lot of different things to different people.

I think people who have a firm belief system – political, religion or science, art, etc., have a buffer or a filter against opposing views which would only cause them to question their beliefs.

For example, if you believe we are in the last days you can filter all of our bad news through that viewpoint and skip it.

Or if you believe in the scientific method, you can bypass all the paranormal/mystical type approaches and skip them.

If you take an anti-capitalist stance you can easily understand problems with big pharmaceuticals and ignore any evidence that they’re trying their best to help mankind.
