Overall, NAC treatment appears to be safe and tolerable. Further well designed, larger controlled trials are needed for specific psychiatric and neurological disorders where the evidence is favorable.
NAC seems like a really good option but mucolytic effect makes me worry. Importance of mucus is underestimated I think. NAC would increase the risk of getting infections (especially the respiratory infections) because of its mucolytic effect. All in all, I would add some more links to this thread.
Up until recently, I was a heavy smoker for almost 4 years. Taking NAC has made it easier to breathe. In fact, it worked really fast. I feel like I have more lung function.
