You've got to hand it to Warren Buffet

He is one of the most successful investors in the world and has a net worth of over $125 billion as of April 2022, making him the world’s fifth-wealthiest person.

And he’s 91 years old.

91 years old folks.

And he’s still active.

He’s a great figure, much to be emulated, but I still think he can pay more taxes.

He’s my favorite billionaire

Yeah, but can he vacuum two wings and clean 6 restrooms in four hours?

A manager at McDonald’s probably works as hard as he does, but Warren Buffet works with his mind, and that is what makes the money.

Money makes money. You don’t have to be a rocket scientist and I’d suspect that most engineers have more intelligence than most billionairres. Good luck to them but if society was focussed on achievement rather than money then it would be a total different story.

I saw a clip on the news where this professor was saying that a football coach made more money than five Nobel Prize winners.

There are different kinds of intelligence. Jimmy Carter was very intelligent, but Ronald Reagan got the nuclear arsenals of Russia and the United States cut in half. If a democrat had done that he would be hailed as the savior of humanity.

You get my point!~ It’s an artificially constructed system that works for most but it’s still not fair or equitable. Until we figure out something else it’s what we’ve got but the old…do not flatter your benefactor holds some weight.

They say the first million is the hardest to earn. You have more than you need you have choice to invest. You have choices to gain interest that most poor people don’t. I’m not impressed by wealth because you don’t have to be particularly smart nor skilled to be weathy and mostly it’s based on your predecessors anyways.

So he accumulated all this wealth -
I hope it was worth it cause he can’t take it with him to his grave soon.
I guess thats where money just stays in the family.
So much its obscene.

But impressive investor.

If you’re living in a corrupt country you have to be ruthless, but I bet there are quite a few scientists who don’t know the ins and the outs of investing. There are many things about capitalism that are unfair, but it is better than living under the guns of a corrupt military. We try to even out the unfairness of a capitalistic society, for which I am grateful. I don’t think any system can match the drive and the creativity that capitalism fosters, but sometimes I think all that drive and creativity might kill us.

Yeah not the venue for such a discussion but we’re into politic. We do the best we can with what we’re dealt with but it’s one of those things. Lots of poor, marginalised people around here who don’t get a chance at buying into the market. Will let things be but we know all the arguements.

I wonder if he will live up to this claim.

I think warren buffett sounds pretty smart. He has also made comments about not choosing a job for money. I wonder if he finds trading stocks to be a thrill.

@Rester

I trust anyone with that much money nor their philanthropy.

I imagine that getting into “the game” could appeal to some people, but there are jobs I would like to have if I wasn’t mentally ill, maybe a journalist, or a wildlife ecologist. Neither job pays that well, but I think I would like them.

@crimby
Journalism has changed since social media. Would you be interested in New or Traditional Journalism?

Traditional, but I would probably like best some kind of fusion between the two, but mostly traditional.

You’d think I could do such work, but my back gives me trouble doing it. I can bend over and pick up a microwave with no trouble, but working with my hands causes me big back problems, something about reaching out from my torso. I used to clean four small bathrooms at our clubhouse twice a week, and that was about the limit my back could take.
