I’m waiting to see a sub specialist for a condition I don’t want to talk about.
BUT, there’s another condition I do want to talk about. I have severe abdominal pain when I walk or jog or engage my core too much.
We thought it was hernias but I had an abdominal CT that showed I have no hernias.
What it did show is I have abdominal lymph nodes larger than 1 cm. This is usually considered malignant. But the surgeon decided he’s not concerned and is sending me to physical therapy to deal with the intense pain.
The pain is so bad it feels like my insides are going to rip apart. It’s bad.
Why isn’t he concerned about my large lymph nodes?!
Hey @LilyoftheValley. Sorry to hear that you are going through so much. If i were you, i’d get a second opinion, unless you can get your surgeon to explain exactly why he isn’t concerned. You are owed that.
This is a question we aren’t going to be qualified to answer. Your doctor is more qualified than us to decide what is and what is not of concern. If you think he’s wrong though, the only thing I can think of to recommend, is seeing another qualified professional for a second opinion. Maybe @Ooorgle might have some input on this. He is one of the few here with any medical training I think.
No. It’s not that. I’m starting to wonder if it’s related to my other problem. I guess I’ll ask the sun specialist next week when I see him. I guess that’s all I can do.
One thing I would recommend, is maybe writing down a list of questions for when you see docs if you have all these concerns. You generally only have access to them for brief periods of time, at least that is my experience, and that way you wont forget anything you want to ask and be questioning and worrying about the answers later.
Yeah. And I’m really concerned. I’ve been blown off before and later was found to be in dire need of surgery multiple times. It’s so frustrating and scary.
From what little I know, lymph nodes jobs are to fight infections. So they are swollen due to the other problem you are having. So it’s very likely they aren’t malignant. I have psoriasis, so the lymph nodes at the base of my neck are always swollen. So, they are probably thinking, once the specialist treats your other problem, the lymph nodes will go back to regular size.
