do you think I need to be jailed or such only cuz im sometimes delusional???
I believe that if and when you are a danger to others your violence needs to be contained in some way or another. Whether that is a mental health facility because you are delusional until you are stable.
If your violence is not related to delusions and you continue to be violent, then yes, jail might be the best place for that person.
Iām not a danger to anyone
WEll, then, your question is irrelevant. If you arent a danger to anyone then there is no need to protect others from you.
yes but some people are scared of me being violent just cuz of delusions
You shouldnt be jailed because you have delustionsā¦ā¦but if you are violent because of those delusions you should be put in some sort of mental health facility, whether thats a psych ward or whatever, to protect others until you are stable.
If you are commit violent acts not related to delusionsā¦periodā¦regardless of your diagnosis, you should be jailed just like any other person.
schizophrenia should not be an excuse to be able to commit crimes and escape punishment.
I dont see how I can be any clearer on my view.
violent because of delusionsā¦..be contained and helped until stable.
violent just because you areā¦..jail
i agree with you on that but is it fair being jailed just because youāre delusional. thats what i meant
Well, then we are in agreement.
I havenāt read the article or seen any video or news on this particular situation, cause I canāt handle disturbing content. I avoid the news. Just making that known.
That said, I completely agree with you. I wish SO BADLY that my mom would be put in the state mental hospital, but itās full and has a long wait list. She is severely ill and has committed two violent crimes. TW: violence.
First, she attacked her āfriendā who was checking on her, smashing her face into the tile floor. Yes, there were police involved. She went to the psych hospital for 3 days and then put into assisted living by my brother (legal guardian at this point). Second, while in said assisted living facility, she threw plates at kitchen staff and threw staff against the wall, causing multiple gashes and bruises on the staff. Again, police involved. She went to jail for two nights and then let out. Thatās it. No psych hospital. No nothing.
I am terrified of her. Sheās violent, manipulative, and cruel. She wasnāt always this way. Just since she stopped her meds three years ago. She NEEDS to be in a mental hospital and NEEDS medication. Right now, she is just completely insane and nobody can do anything to help her. She refuses all help and medsā¦.
My first psychotic episode, I found it tricky and hard not to act on voices and delusions in my head
ā¦and your habit of threatening people.
I havenāt threatened anyone in a long time.
If you have schizophrenia and have homicidal thoughts you should commit yourself. If they let you go and you still have homicidal thoughts then stay in your house. I know this even when I have no insight. I yelled at my mom when I was delusional and instead of sitting around I went to the psych ward. I was completely out of it at the time but I knew I didnāt want to harm anyone physically or verbally. Some people are just human garbage and live a life of blaming others and use excuses for a crutch constantly pleading theyāre the victim.
People remember that for a long time. Like, their entire life.
One can still have a nice environment and rehabilitation and healing and medication but where safe and protection .
I agree Iāve hospitalized myself a few times. My violent thoughts were just OCD though.
Iām aware but Iāve changed
Yes they should be
But treatment before punishment
Letting cycles happen is not acceptable and needs the correct intervention
I know hope is a big thing around here but some people are beyond help and need to be separated and kept away from the rest of the herd for a long time, even forever. Case in point: The guy in Charlotte, North Carolina who recently stabbed a young Ukrainian woman to death on a train for no reason. The guy had a long criminal history and even his own mother and sister said before the killing that he should not be walking around free. He actually was a schizophrenic off his medication but I think the bigger problem was that he was bad, dangerous person. A little tender, loving care is not going to make him turn his life around and become a good citizen. He needs to be punished and put away for what he did and theyāre actually considering the death penalty for him.
Oh, I just saw the article in the original post. I was watching a news program a couple of hours ago that had the same case. Thatās what I was basing my post on.
You mean you no longer ignore any feedback that doesnāt fit your preconceptions? Amazing.
