Writing down talking points before you visit psychiatrist

Hey folks this might sound trivial, but if you are like me who often are getting lost in conversation with psychiatrist. Try bringing all your main talking points already written down to your appointment. So that you never forget anything.

Example:

  1. Sleep issues.
  2. Severe anxiety.
  3. Side affects.
  4. Recovery questions.
  5. Medication questions.
  6. Anything else psychiatry related.

I highly recommend you being prepared because visiting isn’t always that frequent and by writing down all your issues you will be getting most of your appointment.

I definitely do that every week.

I actually do short journal entries every day with questions and general progress. She reads it at the beginning of our session and that is our session topics. I started doing it a while ago and she really likes it so we cover everything we need to.

One of these days I’ll get off weekly visits back onto biweekly. I love my psych nurse but I’m tired of being sick enough to require weekly meetings. Thank goodness I have excellent insurance.

My therapist allows me to email her between sessions. I just make a note in my phone with everything I want to talk about for the week and attach it to the email at the end of the week.

It’s really helpful because then she can bring up the hard topics I can’t get myself to bring up.
