If the Kelly Blue Book value of your car before the body work is $3700?
My car has a big dent in the drivers side, front fender.
What is the car worth after the work is done? Or is the Kelly blue book value based on the car being in good shape?
ETA: I meant being not brewing
I made a mistake on the $3700. On the Kelly Bluebook website I entered both front seats need to be replaced. It is only the drivers side. If I fix the car it is worth $5000.
No, my husband and I wouldn’t fix it.
One time I rear ended someone in my last car. I just bought a black plastic bumper off Craigslist for $80 and put it on myself. My dad used his torch to heat the metal bracket and bend it back. I didn’t paint it but could have had it painted later at any time.
What’s your reasoning?
If you have no intention to sell it then cosmetic damage I’d leave well alone
Depends on whether you intend to be its last owner
If you sold it, you would be selling it at a loss. $3,700 + $1900 = $5,600 - $5000 = $600.
ETA: not sure this is right after your second response. Fix it if you want to keep it and you have the money.
I would put that money towards a down payment on a newer car.
My car’s transmission went. It was a 20 year old Volvo. I gave it to my car repair man. He got $50 for it. Now I am walking or riding my bike. A friend lent me his second car so I could get somewhere out of town. A new transmission would have cost me $3600.
The dent gives it character. Plus, if you ever come out of the store and the same make, model, color has parked next to you it will be obvious which one is yours.
Besides, $1900 for a dent is rape.
When it would be on my mind to fix the dent, i would. I don’t know your finances, when i couldn’t afford it easily, i wouldn’t fix the dent.
I would buy a replacement fender, paint it myself, and install it.
I would dent the other one to match it ![]()
Jk.
Id leave it. Just do engine/drivetrain work and leave the cosmetic stuff
If it doesn’t effect the driving, I would leave it. ![]()

I put $5000 into a transmission for an SUV worth less than that
Dent drivers side front fender? Spend the money on driving school
In Paris drivers keep the dents in their cars so other drivers avoid them more, if that makes sense? Its crazy driving in Paris.
I would just leave it alone
All that really matters is the reliability of cars anyway, just drive it till the engine goes out
