Working memory deficits

Every day it happens often, I want to do something and poof I forget what I was about to do. I keep trying to remember, sometimes for hours, occasionally I remember it after a few hours. Sometimes they’re important things like taking my meds and my psy apt.
I am only 30 y.o.

Anyways, I told my psy and he said to setup an alarm in my cellphone. I did it with the 2 cellphones I use and its working pretty well. Never had psychosis since I setup the alarms last year.

I have about ten years on you and i suffer from crs: can’t remember ■■■■. I don’t know if it was all the pot smoking or the sz and meds, but my short term memory is likely below average. I do remember to take my meds tho.

I think its a cognitive symptom of schizophrenia but I hope its the meds so they make better meds in the future. I read KarXT is supposed to fix all sz issues, positive, negative and cognitive:

I thought sza was giving me memory problems but it turned out to just be the weed I was smoking. When I quit smoking it, all my memory problems went away. I have been off it for three months now with no cravings at all. That’s after smoking it almost daily for 15 years.

I’m glad you aren’t running into any psychosis.

I think that my memory improved from existentialist therapy. Although what I believe to be the case is that even with Seroquel, or other medications, that this could be changed with dopamine, or other neurotransmitter, or other reaction.

They’re called Post-It notes and they’re wonderful. Buy a bunch and use them.

Sometimes I feel overwhelmed and forget things if I am juggling too many responsibilities. It’s good to say no to a lot of things that are a drain on your time and personal goals. I had a friend who wanted me to take an online class with him but it’s looking like it would use a lot of personal time which I would prefer to use for studying music and exercise. Often the enemy of the best is the good as they say.

I use our echo dot (Alexa) for a lot of reminders, alarms, appointments and lists. It’s quite handy for making shopping lists.

Google calendar is pretty good for me too if I set a notification.

I make a to-do list each day using this app which let’s me slide around and break down tasks really quickly. It’s pretty old and only uses Android but still works great for me. I have a roles tree, a locations tree for shopping and a daily to do list tree.

I don’t remember anything.
But that’s not bad.
I live in the present. I need nothing else

Low thyroid activity can create memory issues especially memory recall issues. So testing thyroid is very crucial and if its not optimal need to correct it using levothyroxine pill.

Here is more symptoms of not optimal thyroid hormone level.

Hair fall, loosing few hair everyday is normal but if you see large clumps of hair when combing then it points to low thyroid issues.

Low energy level, do you find yourself using bed more during day time?

Low libido, depressed mood.

If think of do something then some thought come. What thought before vanished from mind.

If think of do some thing then used mobile for checking some thing. Not only forgot about previous what to do but also forgot about if there anything to do after using mobile.

There is an useful application for this kind of memory issue. For example at morning when alarm rings urge to sleep again is there but here is the trick, use your mobile for few seconds like play some small game like lumosity game after few minutes the urge to sleep again vanished! This way can use this to get rid of all negative thoughts, urges etc if want.

According to Cognifit my working memory is in the OK range.
Visual short term memory & non-verbal memory are my weaknesses memory wise.

Tests are not accurate as when we repeat the test our mind gets adapted to it.

Here is an exercise to improve working memory. Try to watch a movie without following it instead visualize the camera setup, directors instructing etc when shooting the movie.

@keepsimple I use Things app, it’s a similar powerful to do list app with lots of features but it’s in the iOS MacOS ecosystem

@keepsimple @anongoodnurse I use ColorNote app with my Gmail. I like it because I can sync my notes accross many devices with my Gmail and my notes are saved online so I never lose them even if I lost my cellphone:

This is why most sites not allow repeat tests, first result is interpreted as final result.
