I cant tell if it’s just bad working memory but my mind goes on crazy tangents and I think about various topics and forget what I was originally thinking. Usually the thoughts arent connected and my mind just wanders through space and time for no reason at all

Absolutely. Both sz and sza severely impacts memory for some.
I just had an issue with this last night. Someone is extremely upset that I can’t remember something.

Overall executive function gets compromised due to schizophrenia. Working memory, ability to maintain attention. Organize things in your head and speak about them.

Look, it’s nothing to be ashamed of. It’s frustrating and annoying at the best of times.
My family likes to joke about me and my memory, but it really can be hurtful. Still, it’s just something we have to learn to live with.
Some brain training games will help a little, but due to limitations of the sz brain, there’s physical reasons we have sh*t memory.
What I do on my good days is joke about having CRS Disease - Can’t Remember Sh*t

Memory issues can be a symptom of SZ/SZA
But don’t underestimate these psych meds.
I know for me personally that chronic use of powerful meds like APs and mood stabilizers over the years have given me some brain damage.
I have a difficult time remembering things and expressing myself verbally.

I’m Schizoaffective and have memory and cognition issues sometimes.
Had a blip this morning, but it was nothing mission critical.
Somethings I can’t remember unless everything is in order and stable.
I think it’s a self defense mechanism.
I personaly don’t think impaired memory is a sz problem, Im on Invega and my memory is as normie’s. My memory was impaired on a wrong med - haloperidol
Then you’re ignoring mountains of research and results. But you do you.
By itself mine is in the high average range. That’s OK. However it’s comparatively lower than other areas of intelligence. Hence it’s a comparative weakness. Major weaknesses for me are non-verbal memory and visual short term memory. The latter especially so. I’ve only once got to level 7 on the human benchmark visual memory test.
