Work and finding a sense of purpose

I just wanted to share a bit about the process of recovery and finding a purpose n life. I was diagnosed with sz at about 22. I say about because I was so out of it that I don’t remember the exact year. Anyway, after I was so called stabilized on Haldol I got out of the hospital and went to live with my parents. Eventually, I was approved for social security disability. After living in low income apartment and changing my meds to Abilify I decided to try work again at TJ Maxx. That’s a retail store. I worked part time and there for 5 years and then decided I wanted to help people with their process if recovery. So I became a peer support specialist and went back to work full time helping people with their recovery. It’s such a wonderful thing to watch individuals make progress by defining their goals and pursuing them. Whether it’s going back to college, volunteering or going back to work we can find purpose n life. I say this as someone who was in disability for over 20 years and feel like I lost a kit if time just hanging out and watching a lot if TV. Please find your purpose and pursue it with vigor. Have an awesome rest of the summer guys!

I’m glad you’re doing so well. You’re an inspiration!

Thanks PG! We can all enter into the process of recovery. Takes time and effort though. The right meds surely help too. Go for it PG!
