Withdrawl from a anti psychotic 14 years I'm on them

ok the reason im stopping them i gained 6 stone in weight, im 6foot 1. im in a remission 3 years with no systoms, im on 15mg of zyprexa, so i will take half every second night for a week, taper down off them…hope my mind can handle it and i dont end in hospital again, but im tired of carrying so much weight

ok if i get free from these pills …what will be my diagnose then?

Sounds risky.

I know what you mean about the weight.

im willing to take the risk, i was 12 stone im 18 stone now Due To zyprexa

You can exercise,I exercise and I do not gain any weight, infact I look fit to people

You’re risking a relapse. And maybe even physical health problems. The best way to go about it is with a doctor closely monitoring you. I lost 65 lbs on my diet about a year and a half ago while I was on resperidone. And I was 52 years old. So maybe if someone my age can lose weight on a diet, so could you. I gained some of it back because I got lazy in my eating habits. So I started over. I’ve lost 25 lbs with 15 lbs. to go. My goal weight is 199 lbs.

Then you should listen to his advice, unless you could outtalk him or you really feel you should go off for whatever reason

i get false hungryer pains at night and have to eat

But there is no reason not to follow your feeling and choice

@Mobc1990 considering im in remission 3 year now

the pdoc did offer me a med to lose weight

So eat at night. But just eat HEALTHY stuff. Vegetables, fruit, yogurt, cottage cheeses, a glass of milk, nuts, plain popcorn (no butter), a few pieces sugar-free candy, etc.

If you have been in remission for 3 years… It’s possible that you may get your pdocs support in trying to taper down. In order to decrease chances of relapse I would recommend doing it under your pdocs supervision as tapering too quickly may needlessly cause a relapse.

I cannot stress this enough- Taper down on meds only with the help and guidance of your pdoc!
I am in the process of tapering down on the Risperdal with the guidance of my psychiatrist.
Cutting down on these meds has to be slow and steady, going low very quickly can cause a lot of problems. In the past I got off of certain meds too quickly and relapsed.
Being over weight is not the only reason why we are cutting back on the Risperdal.
I am doing so because of health reasons primarily- talk to your doctor and see what what happens.
Good luck!
