theyve been coming in for almost 2 years now…really hurting…dont wanna have to get them taken out…and then prescribed opiates …or go through the pain of no opiates
each time i tried opiates i hated it but still worried about that addiction…wanna stay away from that garbage
I had them pulled on one side when I was 26. It was such a bloody mess, I didn’t do the other side.
Well when I was 52 they started comming in and it was ok as I had lost a tooth so fresh new ones come in handy. I had X-rays and there was room for them and they came in straight.
I used ora gel max strength for killing teething pain and Tylenol. Yea it can feel like your jaw is cracking but I’m glad to have nice shiny new ones when the rest of them are crapping out.
Now they just gotta last another 30 years.
I’ve had three wisdom teeth out and managed to do OK on strong pain pills other than opiates.
If you smoke you’ll probably be instructed not to for awhile. I kept smoking + a got dry socket twice They are very painful and have to be treated. Get some nicotine gum or lozenges before the surgery. Or wait + ask the Dr which if any you can use.
I don’t know. Do you puff very hard on them? I’m not sure but I think it’s that motion that gives you the dry socket. But I’m not sure. You might call the office + ask about it.
I had mine pulled when I was 27 or 28. All four at once. I had it done for free at the dental college up in San Francisco. It took FOUR hours. It was a miserable experience; it hurt. A student did it. I was later told that the whole procedure should have taken no more than two hours. The next day my cheeks were swollen up like a squirrel with acorns in his cheeks. At the time I was in the middle of a relapse and shortly after the operation I had to be in a psyche ward. Bad times.
I had all 4 of mine pulled when I was 16. They put me under for it. I managed the next few days on 800mg of Motrin. Opiates are nice, but not a necessity.
I had my wisdom tooth pulled out two years ago and it did not hurt at all. It was an operation and they were deep inside the mouth. I went to a very good doctor and had local anesthesia. The only thing that was not comfortable was that I could not feel my tongue and talk not well during the surgery. I did not have any pain later and did not take any pain medication at all! See, it really depends on if you have complications with the surgery! I did not have any. Good luck!!!
Yep - went for the full “knockout” treatment (i.e. fully asleep while they were doing it). Don’t remember much - was very groggy afterwards, and someone had to drive me home. Other than that - it wasn’t much to talk about.
Don’t think I bothered taking the Vicodin that they gave me for aferwards. Mouth was sensitive but not too painful afterwards. actually… I might have used Vicodin for a day or two.
I don’t think they grow back, but I could be wrong.
I have one that cut through after I had a tooth pulled - to replace the missing one when I was about 12. Though wisdom teeth aren’t as sturdy I still have it at 62 - one of few real teeth I have now, having as you lost a lot of teeth.
They were both removed with local anesthesia. Not a pleasant experience. The first removal was a bit medieval- a large nurse held me in a headlock. The second dentist was really professional.
Anyway everything is fine now.
My advice would be - don’t be afraid to get multiple opinions about your condition.
Mine were buried deep. Some dentists suggest taking them out when they are deep and have to be cut out.
They are meant to come out in middle age to replace teeth that are lost. So that worked out for me.
I had mine removed when I was 17. Whenever you get yours removed, make sure to change out the cotton gauze as directed. I didn’t remove the gauze and developed the taste of rotten congealed blood in my mouth. Then I had no appetite for a week and got very sick from not eating anything for so long.
Mine might be coming through now, rather late at 29 I suppose. Hurts quite a bit now, but it’ll pass. Maybe it’s not even a wisdom tooth but something else - though it seems not one particular tooth that is hurting so I figured it was pressure of the wisdom tooth having its effects on the others… Will have to make an appointment soon. I heard it is a great opportunity to lose some weight, just a few kilo’s and it’d be perfect. But not looking forward to the ordeal of getting the tooth removed, and the aftermath of possible infections and what have you.
