Do you think he will get in problems to get hired again?
Call me a cynic, but I find most celebrities to be dumbasses.
Does society unfairly nail celebrities to the cross every time they screw up or do something stupid? Of course! But that’s the price of fame.
They don’t deserve Jerry Springer.
Dude of course it was not staged. That’s conspiracy thinking. Will Smith quit the Academy and some of his projects are on hold now.
I definitely lost all respect for him. Also, tickets for Chris Rock’s Ego Death Tour doubled in sales right after the incident. He’s the man!
I heard someone on the internet say they wondered if Smith would have slapped Dave Bautista or Dwayne Johnson if they were the ones making the joke. I say probably not.
But Monte, God is calling him to be a vessel of love for his people!
(gives standing ovation)
If you watch the video from the very beginning, he laughed at the joke while his wife looked angry. I bet his wife yelled at him because he laughed, and he got in trouble, and felt the need to do it over and act outraged. I personally thought it was a classic husband/wife issue, where the husband doesn’t care, the wife makes him, and he has to change his reaction.
Although getting chris fock and bill smith on jerry for a brawl would be pretty entertaining.
Yeah i spelled their names wrong cuz im kewl
I support this death match idea
I agree. Every action has its consequences, whatever it is.
You don’t get it. I’m not excusing him because of who he is. I’m saying that he’s a human being who did something really stupid
I think because Will Smith is a celebrity people forget that he’s also a human being. I’m not saying he did the right thing but I’m not willing to throw him away as a human being.
“He was protecting his wife” is very much an excuse. “He’s only human” is very much an excuse. We have no problem bad mouthing other people who assault others. They’re human too, are we sure it’s not because he’s Will Smith?
I’ve made my point known, and feel we are going in circles, so I’m exiting this thread. Peace and love to all!
Definitely think it’s not a big deal. The way society sanctions behavior nowadays is too much. He is asked to leave the ceremony, police attempt to charge, everyone opines on it, he resigns from Academy, makes apology etc. I used to be really f’d up about how society constrains behavior and an event like this shows the landslide a misstep precipitates. Talk about living with anxiety seeing how not completely keeping your behavior in check causes so much backlash.
Any way you spin it, it was assault with millions of witnesses. A non-celebrity would be in jail for it.
Def think someone should be able to slap without repercussion
I got slapped before lol i didnt appreciate it. But i dont think someone should get jailed for that. Its just a disrespectful move.
I’ve never slapped someone across their face, my son hasn’t, my daughter hasn’t, my husband hasn’t. Let’s not try and normalize violence. Will Smith’s reaction was extremely abnormal, as it should be.
First of all I’m not feeling paranoid.
Second of all I really don’t care about what happens to two rich and spoiled celebrities.
But in my eyes the way Chris Rock was leaning forward exposing his face to Will Smith before the big slap seemed a bit fishy to me.
Yeah it definitely helped with ratings.
And It also boosted Chris Rocks career some.
