Let me tell you, I will have a full huge swing in IQ points from being symptomatic to normal. It’s not your imagination. This disease robs us of our intelligence. We can’t focus sometimes, our working memory is impaired, and we can’t make sense of things. I’m frightened sometimes at how low functioning my brain is. But sometimes it all comes back to me and I can think straight. So hopefully, yes, your intelligence will come back. Just try to be patient with yourself.

i think so , it could have been 1-2years

thanks ;)151515 i dun have real issue of delusions but cognitive , but Aps can’t help cognition . so i dun know what to do.

to describe . it is sth close to humanity . self reflection, thinking ability and deep emotion and thinking…

Try some brain games online, exercise your brain. Make sure you’re getting plenty of rest and good nutrition. Take fish oil supplement, that will really help with your concentration. Keep your stress low. And don’t be hard on yourself. It takes time to recover from schizophrenia.

You will feel more intelligent the better you are doing. As leaf said, rest is more important for us than others. Everyone has issues with sleep deprivation but our symptoms tend to get worse when tired.

Example: typically I can handle work and home life. When I’m tired the people in my head talk more and handling gets harder.

You may not realize yet what’s distracting your thinking. I believe you’re as smart as you ever were. Symptoms are just making it harder in you.

thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

There are good things about being sick. I’m happy that my idea of “normal” is gone. I feel like I’m a much better friend. I mean I have talked to fake aliens so there’s not much you can say that will make me judge you lol

Maybe you can find something good in what you’ve gone through?

sth good have happened in my episode, but can’t connect any good feeling to them right now, i am blank and vacant now…

My IQ did not diminish due to sz but I could not think very well because almost any subject would trigger my symptoms. So, one has to conquer the issues one at a time as they present themselves. I’m 75 and every year I take a test that sees if I’m showing any signs of starting to get dementia. So far, I’ve gotten a perfect score every year. (So, that’ll show 'em.) :slightly_smiling_face:

@schizophrenick sometimes the APs can make you feel numb. Would your doctor be open to trying new options?

it is great , did ur symptoms vanish completely most of the time?

i am not a gd patient and still struggling on going on meds , i am on and off now , he gave me a pack for a month since oct and i just took 3 from that . risperidone 1mgx30

I had a really hard time accepting that I was sick. As they say, “reality is perception.” So where do we fit in?

My suggestion is to follow your doctor’s orders until you feel more normal. Then you can make choices about moving forward. Your choices will be more reliable when you feel like yourself.

A short video clip about online brain training for Sz patients. Worth a look. The training is available at www.brainhq.com
