Will I ever be able to watch horror movies again?

Wow thats a real shame since you seemed to very much enjoy horror. This illness tends to strike us in our deepest joys and turn them inside out into our greatest fears.

For me i never liked horror but i wasnt really against it either. However there is one movie which has triggered tons of fears in me because im so enthralled by religion. The movie is called ‘Rosemarys baby’ (i believe) its total trash but being remembered of the scenes has tormented me after i was released out of the hospital for months.

Doubt you will ever again. I don’t need horror movies anymore because my life is one

May I ask what it is/was that drew you to your fascination? (It’s not unusual among sz spectrum, borderline, PTSD and neurotic anxiety pts, btw.)

Lol, i can relate

Omg I miss fnaf sooo badly

I wasn’t allowed to watch horror as a child and at about 16 I was finely allowed to watch my first horror and I was just hooked.

I thought it was just me.
Typically i can still watch stuff like Texas Chainsaw Massacre…but anything involving paranormal, demonic, ghost, possession stuff, noooo waaaaay.

I could watch movies like 1408 as a kid, but now I’m too delusional to let in those kinds of influences.

How old were you when you began to have symptoms?

Because the former is so fantastic your mind doesn’t relate to it, BUT… the latter is closer to home?

I don’t know. But I can still recall the creepy feeling of being sucked into an atmosphere of movies like ‘The Ring’ and ’ The Mothman Prophecies".

“The Matrix” spun my head pretty good, as did “The Devil’s Advocate.” And years ago, “The Exorcist.”

But I was at the premier of “Alien” in 1979 down in Westwood. When the film ended, everyone in the theater walked out in stunned, shaken, wild-eyed, total silence.

Just about a month ago I’m 22

It’s all unrealistic bs anyways.

Just head to the vice news website if you really want to upset/disgust/horrify yourself.

I love horror movies. I dont like gory ones though. That is disturbing stuff. I dont have any issues watching horror movies. My meds work really well for me

I don’t know man, it’s up to the individual. some people with schizophrenia are sensitive to those. Did you hear that Wes Craven died yesterday?

Yup , never watched his stuff , I think if there’s such a thing as ‘camp’ horror , then that’s the kind of stuff Wes produced.

I did. He made some great movies.

What are your schizophrenic symptoms like? can you give like a couple of things which made you realize that you have this illness? perhaps you can watch or play horror games without being affected mentally(as in having bad delusions).

Well ever since I was little I had weird fears for no reason but more recently I have seen people and monsters that aren’t really there and hearing people I don’t know calling my name, headaches, I haven’t had a good nights sleep in a very long time but once I started to take meds it all stopped I’m sleeping well, the headaches, the people, the fears, and monsters are gone…
