Anyone avoid horror movies?

I was never really big on them, maybe that’s why they kinda mess with my head when I watch them.

I used to love them. Then I got schizophrenia and if I watched them my symptoms would get really bad and I would start having nightmares more often. I don’t watch them anymore.

Have u ever seen Signs? I swear once I saw a shadow of an alien on my wall (most likely a visual hallucination) that looks exactly like the ones in the movie. Funny part is I just turned the other direction and luckily fell asleep…but who knows what would have happened if I touched it. Yikes!!!

I don’t avoid horror movies, especially the ones when I can sit next to some random person in a theater and wrap my alleviating arm around that said terrified person during the scary and horrifying scenes

just kidding…

I hate movies, television shows, popular music, etc… I’m homely.

I like psychological thrillers, but hate the horror jump scare movies.

I’ve definitely avoided them since sz. I’m much more sensitive to that kind of stuff now. Ir can really mess with my head.

Like some fellow posters have mentioned, before schizophrenia I enjoyed horror movies, after not as much. I can still watch them but if I’m alone in the apartment for too long they can be triggering, especially at night. I would rather not see ghosts and shadows of my imagination at night. Alas I’ve become such a wuss when it comes to scary movies.

I’ve always hated scary movies. I get too wrapped up in what I’m watching. I think that’s partially why I freak out so much at psychosis. I feel that whatever happens is real and I can’t talk myself down.

I cannot watch any sort of Horror Movie.

There was a period in my life where I did watch plenty of Horror flicks, but no more.

Any kind of show or Movie depicting Violence or torture is a no no for me.

My system is way too sensitive.

I avoid them. I don’t like that sort of thing going into my subconscious. I have nightmares also.

I am drawn to supernatural movies in the same way people are sometimes drawn to look over the edge of a cliff. There is a slight thrill. But I rarely watch them as they set me off.

You never watched a funny horror…the evil dead movies are filled full of bad one liners very fake looking over the top gore and slap stick…not the new one though…don’t watch that one…

I can watch hammer horror and oldies in black and white but I am too sensitive for modern horror.

My idiot sister describes horror movies and real life crime stories to me though. Consequently I don’t talk to her much.

Personally I do like horror movies as well as horror games, but they’ve been affecting me more lately for some reason and I’m not quite sure why.

Some types of horror movies are enjoyable to me, like action-adventure/mystery/thriller combinations that have an intelligent plot. To me this is very different from the variety of horror movies where it’s just a barely coherent mishmash of gore, rape and possessed little girls screaming vulgarities, etc. I tried watching the “Evil Dead” and couldn’t get through even half the movie, it was just atrocious.
