Why people say you should work

It’s so simple and I knew all along but I didn’t really Know. Work is important to stop thinking about things. I don’t have a job per se but when I take a walk I forget things. And cleaning the kitchen is sometimes enjoyable. I admit I don’t have many utensils and dishes and pans but I clean it most days. I still have so much time to make up scary sh*t…

I’m a bit of a workaholic, because the more idle time I have, the more time my brain gets to create problems.

Of course, rest and quiet time is good. But for me, I need to not have too much of it.

I don’t know your rights. But often people want a paid job. And when you have it maybe your mental state must be well. And that is a good thought.

Not worked in 30 years. Ive had the usual horse shite of being a benefits scrounger. But i always say one thing.

You have my head when its screaming your name in your ear at 3am in bed, and i will time it for when you eventually shite yourself.

People want the money your on. But they dont want the disability that goes along with it.

I miss work. It gave me something useful to do, useful for me and for society. Stopped my feeling of being useless and I made money that enabled me to spend more on myself, made me happier. Made me independant and was much less bored. It organized my day too and felt more normal among my friends who work. I also liked talking about my work experiences with my friends everyday.

Theres a few reasons that I am aware of:

  1. If you succeed with anything and become successful it can cause them to feel regret over their own choices.

  2. People fear looking at a reflection of some internal truth they would rather deny: that they themselves never really wanted to work. But they forced themselves to because of societal pressure.

  3. Fear. Nearly everyone fears loss and a lack of security is very scary. People want to believe a job is the only way to stability when in reality it is never stable or secure; everyone can lose a job at any moment.

In general there are some deep truths people avoid by working. Working keeps the mind busy. But busy from what? Feelings and truths and painful thoughts potentially.

But what people should consider is that the standard work beliefs are very damaging to human health and well being and relationships.

When a person works 9 to 5 they can not tend to their own needs as well - especially emotional needs. Nor can they tend to the needs of their loved ones and even pets.

One of the regrets that people will have in life too is that they spent too much time working that they never got to spend much time with family and enjoy it.

Yeah… Our society is in a place now of really looking at this issue honestly - if it dares. But it needs to because it is far too damaging to ignore.

I work because I can.

Everyone should work if they can instead of taking money off others through taxes.

I don’t enjoy it per se atm, but I’m sure I will at some point, hopefully.

Were you able to work after having sz? Working stresses me and cause positive symptoms. The longest job I had after having sz was for 9 months when I was on 80mg Latuda.

When I used to work I spent the most on my gaming PC and food.

Work 9-5 is the norm for people without mental illness…
I dont know How people do that to be honest.
I guess you get colleges, earn money, and have an activity and it feels good.

People AR begets think that you should work because they do maybe it’s because they hate their job baby it’s so hard to put food on the table whatever the reason I tend to push it because of political and social views the media looks at people and pushes whatever view they could sell and if you don’t fit in you are told to go to hell life is hard so get a helmet

I would be fine not “working” but I’d like to work on a skill or fun project.

Like I enjoy software development but I would hate doing it for a corporation.
