Why having a conversation about mental health in the workplace might not be so simple

I tried to have this convo in the workplace(2009 albeit) and got shuffled into the EAP (Employee Assistance Program), there they set me up with a therapist who I saw weekly. But it wasn’t enough to save me, and I’m left wondering. It certainly gave my boss something he could say back to me, but I would have preferred if he engaged me more with questions and comments. It amounts to one bad experience, and a social worker recently told me things have gotten better.
