I don’t know. some of it probably ■■■■ engrained in our youth and a but unconscious.
I imagine some of it is sex drive related to this?
And maybe some of it is just like seeing a painting or a sports car or anything else that you find pleasing to the eye?
Even a ninety year old man with little to no sex drive can still likely appreciate someone that is attractive.
I think a big chunk of who we find attractive or not is learned though, probably mostly through childhood and adolescence. Beauty is to a large degree, in the eye of the beholder, based on current trends.
That’s another thing I wonder, is it actually brainwashing from trends or do the trends just happen to be there due to what our natural preferences are in general eg women with a certain hip waist ratio.
It’s just biology. Symmetrical faces, strong bodies anything that signals vitality and a capable partner. @Bowens is probably right too. A lot of it could be imprinting from childhood. That maybe more often the case for men though.
I think some things are consistent. Smooth skin and maybe, as @TheLogician , symmetrical faces and the like…maybe vitality as well…but other things seem to be fads.
Like for instance in like the early part of the 20th century it was often more attractive to have more hefty women. I remember learning this in grade school
Another example is that , now, things to be changing so large butts on women are in. When I was younger most people found a tight athletic butt more desirable.
Because it’s a nice change from looking at unattractive people all day. It’s a relief.
There is 100 % a cultural influence on what people find attractive. I remember reading that back in the day in Japan the nape of a woman’s neck was seen as extremely desirable just because that was one of the only parts of their body that was exposed. So the apparel of the day had a big impact of what people found attractive.
Yea
It’s just interesting how when I look at a handsome guy on the train, it feels kind of good.
It’s interesting biology, to me.
Often I feel nervous around them if I have to work with them etc.
I don’t like that part
I saw a study that showed people assume a good looking person is nicer and has better personality traits just by looking at them as compared to looking at someone who is unattractive. Maybe that’s what we’re reacting too when we see a good looking person.
I don’t think that’s necessarily the case but I would say that I’ve noticed, generally speaking, good looking ppl tend to be more self confident.
Would you agree?
I think a new trend these days is also, confidence is sexy. Regardless of how yo look.
If they’re better than average looking maybe. Lots of average looking people are self confident too.
Makes sense. I’m a total ass myself and its totally reflected in my looks ![]()
Also, according to the forum today I have an extremely small penis as well
. Probably not a very attractive trait either. I’m totally gonna have to up my assholieness to fit societies expectations. ![]()
Thinking back to high school this seemed to be true then.
I think that has been true for a long time. Maybe forever. Its a primal thing I think. Especially for confident men.
Yea I guess so ![]()
Yeah it blows my mind how a beautiful chick finds men attractive. Personally male bodies and faces have absolutely no attractiveness to me. I find most women very beautiful. But men just look like a regular person with no special qualities. Basically i find it very interesting how straight women find men attractive. Its like a different gender mindset.
I think we’re all forgetting what’s important here. Feet. If they don’t got nice toes they gots to go’s.
I totally disagree but your comment just sounds hilarious.
Which parts do you disagree with @Ozzyskits ?
Edit: oh, probably the feet thing. he was probably responding to @TheLogician
