Why bipolar disorder is becoming more 'desirable' than other mental illnesses

I’ve met several bipolar people and they are as unstable or even more unstable that SZs. There was one bipolar girl at university that kept on repeating first year of uni while I was on my 3 rd year. People think bipolar not as ā€œmanic depressionā€ but who has mild mood swings.

Yep. They have all done this bo poler stint by saying they so artistic and eccentric.

They irritate me

Esp. Kanye west.

Bipolar type 1 disorder with psychotic features is nothing to sneeze about.
These celebrities make me sick.

I wonder wat the worst thing is about being bipolar. I think they get racing thoughts. That can be very distressing from my own memory.

Any condition where one has to go on aps is not desirable… :unamused:

I have a feeling they’ll be a similar thing sooner or later with celebrities embracing the ā€˜autism spectrum’ . It’ll be the 'autism as a ā€˜superpower’ angle that will attract them . The negatives of being on the spectrum will be conveniently ignored .

Celebrities can be a force for good or for bad when it comes to things like bipolar and autism .

When a normal guy hears from a girl he thinks that she is extremely sexual active but still functions. The reality is that one week she does drugs for a week like crazy and other week does not even eat or leave her room.

There is already a tv show about this young man who is a genius doctor and he has autism.
I forget the name of the show.

Edit: It’s called The Good Doctor

I’ve met several people who are bipolar throughout my lifetime. When I used to work full time and through nami meetings. Alot of them function pretty normally and most were working full time. I would rather have bipolar than schiz.

I’m DX SZA, but I personally believe I’m Bipolar Type II.

I dont hear voices.

I get moody, have racing thoughts, a little OCD, intrusive thinking, thought broadcasting.

I go through depression several times a year, despite being on ADs.

I might go get rediagnosed because I personally believe I’m Bipolar Type II instead of SZA.

When will Schizophrenia be a cool disease to have?

Maybe when the news stops painting us as murderers.

Well, no it’s different.

I get both, depression and psychotic depression from Bipolar.

They’re vaguely different.

Not too mention the mania that comes after.

Too put it in idiots terms; psychotic depression is pretty much depression fueled by paranoia.

My oldest was diagnosed in 2nd grade as ADHD, bipolar II, and oppositional defiance disorder. It is hard. He’s 16 now, a lot better than he was, we are currently off of ADHD meds. His grades have greatly improved but still are lacking. The BPD he is on Zyprexa 15mg, but he wants off all meds, and I’m working with his pediatric pdoc, she’s agreeing to going off, 5mg lowered every 3 months. So hopefully next school year off the AP. He’s in therapy for ODD, but umm. We’re having issues with his young female therapist a little too, friendly touchy with him. She often tells me she misses him a lot when her schedule is filled and his spots are not every other week. We’re not the only ones who have noticed, my therapist recommended him switching to a new one once the practice hires a teen provider. Mine put Kalick’s need at top of list for new provider.

If you have mania that indicates you could have bipolar 1 rather than bipolar 2 .

I had a full blown manic episode years back, but now its more so hypomanic and it’s very rare; only under stress which I try to avoid.
