Why are the brains of aspergers people 'wired differently'?

… Or is that a myth?

Not sure about literally, but people with ASD think differently to most other people.

I don’t really see myself as different. My diagnosis is not Aspergers, just regular Autism.

However, all I seem to get negatively from it is the frustration when people completely mis-understand me, or I seem to mis-understand them - but not realise it until much later on in the day for the latter

Not really entirely sure what you’re trying to find out here, but there are a lot of people on the internet especially who think it’s cool to be different in this way

Sure, difference should be celebrated, but not in a shallow way that this topic is

Um, I just want answers. Lol.

There must be a reason why they think differently.

I’m a curious cat, in that respect

Huh? Watcha mean?

Also, a brain autopsy is more accurate than a brain scan on a living person. Brain autopsy research has shown that both Asperger’s people and the highest functioning people with autism have a small amygdala; in cases of low-functioning people, by contrast, the amygdala is more normal and the hippocampus more abnormal.

There has also been studies that show the brains of schizophrenic are constructed slightly differently. Larger capillary and Pathways, that sort of thing

I think it was a Wikipedia article if I’m not mistaken

Why does the dx name aspergers not exist anymore?

OK I understand you now. I’m tired. Going to head off to bed. If I can fall asleep.

I have what was formerly called aspergers. Aspergers was a nazi scientist that wanted to prove people with his nuerotype werent killed like other autistics because they were valuable in the workforce. The majority of the autistic community agrees that its a term filled with shame. We dont use it anymore basically. They removed it as a diagnosis because autism is now justseen in a deminsional way. Its a spectrum. Its called autism spectrum disorder now though clinicians still try to differentiate between “high functioning” and “low functioning” . functioning labels are harmful too because depending on the day and circumstance im either high functioning or low functioning. Its a complicated system
