guy comes over today interested in
one of 3 reel to reels Phil has and is selling.
says he has to ask his wife, doesn’t know,
didn’t come with cash, didn’t intend anything.
I didn’t mean to make a scene but I told him,
If you have no intention on buying, I think you should leave.
wasn’t too long after, he left.
Phil was so pissed at me, but he was nearly drunk.
yeah, Phil buys and sells,
but relationship with a record store local store
Phil does a lot of work for him,
can get the right parts, and clean up and stuff
of turn tables, receivers, and reel, cassette, CD.
a lot of times he gets it free, then turns it around and sells it.
Right on. I love it when people give retro audio kit a new life. I cruise garage sales and pick old receivers and such on the cheap. Deoxy the pots, recap, and swap out the incandescent lighting for LEDs. Put them back on eBay.
Our recycle centre in town has a “take it or leave it” area. Anything there is fair game. I scored a Keurig 2.0 K300 and a Realistic STA-76 receiver this morning after I dropped off our cardboard and plastics. I already got the Keurig working - cleaned the sensor that scans k-cups and fixed a lose wire for the heating element. The receiver is surprisingly unblemished on the exterior, but the inside is nasty and a bunch of the caps are swollen. It will take some work.
