hi to all. I saw one ill friend yesterday but he told me that I am complexed. I didn’t found a compassion from his part. I dont think he s right to show me what I know about myself already even though its the truth… briefly, he s strange two but that’s not my problem.
i take my meds since 4 months now but I am ill since child… I never smiled before and I started to be irritable from the others at an early age now.its now that I have hope for a better life but now I have the problem to think too much… I makes me mad 
. its to a point that I have headaches. I guess its mainly an autistic kind of thinking. and plus, I remain irritable and its killing me from inside…
for those who know something about Depakote? can this relieve my thinking? why the docs use it in schizophrenia also? what is it for mostly?

thanks ever. ive always thought Depakote is more for bipolar and of course, epilepsy… but I am questioning myself if it can calm my racing thoughts… I have headaches because of them, it sucks…

No, Ish is taking another anticonvulsant medication called Tegretol @everhopeful.
@Anna1 - Depakote/ER is primarily an anticonvulsant and is used to prevent seizures/convulsions/Epilepsy.
Its also used as a Mood stabilizer for people with Bipolar disorder or Schizoaffective disorder - it acts as an anti Manic and helps with depression as well.
It is sometimes used in Schizophrenia- it augments an Antipsychotic, and sometimes makes the antipsychotic work better.
It is also used to combat angry outbursts (anger) and it helps with anxiety and panic attacks.
It is a very effective all around drug (Mood Stabilizer) and calming agent - it increases GABA.

thaks for the answer wave. my pdoc insisted on Depakote in the past. I have irritability and anger, so I hope it will help. and for the racing thoughts- its more psychotic I guess? it sucks cause its painfull physically, I cant rest when thinking too much. I am not sure if its psychotic or manic or depressive…

I’m sorry Ish, I got confused! 
I’ve been on Depakine (same as Depakote, I guess) for several months, it was supposed to help even out my mood, but my mood was already stable so it didn’t do jack for me. There were no side effects, which was good. I hear it’s used mostly for epileptics, but sometimes it can help schizoaffective and bipolar sufferers too.
EDIT: I just saw Wave’s reply, he said it better than I did 
It’s for epilepsy, an anticonvulsant, but it is also used as a mood stabilizer. It’s not an antipsychotic as far as I know. My brother is on it for his epilepsy and I have met many bipolar people on it before. My brother personally isn’t having side effects from it but one bipolar (or maybe she was just anxiety and psychosis?) woman I knew was struggling with it though I forget exactly what issues it was causing her.
I took depakote. It made me eat a lot and gave me an itchy rash that may or may not have beem scabies
i will up my Depakote on 3 pills. i think i feel a slight lift on it which is cool yeah the Zyprexa didn’t do this for me 
. and the antidepressants only made me crazier in the past. is it possible that Depakote will help my depression, who knows about it? i am slightly calmer already, less panicked i mean when i upped it to 2 and a half pills

thanks, wave, ok or maybe i am manic i dont know but i am less agitated already and less irritable and the result is that i am less depressed. ill keep you informed on it
