Who Here Has Migraines Or Cluster Headache?

I’m wondering because my family is plagued by migraines and cluster headaches. As inauspicious as it may seem, the demonstrable empirical evidence is what I’m looking for. But first I have to get anecdotal accounts of the relationship between severe mental illness and migraines/cluster headache. So, any input would be much appreciated if you have it or a family member. That would tie in genetics, and hereditarily springboard it from a wild idea, to a groundbreaking hypothesis.

My dad takes the credit for this idea, as he suffers from both severe chronic migraines and cluster headaches, unfortunately. It’s in his pain that he has initialized this idea. The conceptualization of the idea has been ever more apparent the longer weather affects both my illnesses, and his headaches.

I’ve been dealing with migraines/ tension headaches since my late childhood. I always chalked it up to the TBI as a kid. Interesting potential hypothesis. My Mother dealt with migraines as does my daughter.

Thanks so much for this, I’m aware of some research done on the glutamatergic system in correlation with migraines and schizophrenia. But I did not know this was an article. It appears that my brother who majored in neuroscience has some work to do. @everhopeful @anon501122 thank you guys a ton.

I only get migraines from heavy smells but boy do heavy smells cause them. Specifically perfume. I was at a movie theater a few days ago in a crowded theater and a woman with super heavy perfume sat right next to me. I had to move, my head was instantly throbbing.

I know they think it smells nice but it hurts so much.

What worries me, is my brother’s wife gets migraines.

I hope none of my nieces end up with a major mental disorder.

While I think it’s higher than it otherwise would have been without migraines, it’s still not a super strong correlation, which says nothing about causation.

I’ve suffered from migraines since I was 25 years old. They got much, much worse when I started going through the process of menopause. Recently, since being placed on 6 different treatments for migraine, I’ve been doing a lot better. Those treatments are:
Imitrex
Inderal
Botox injections
Topamax
Aimovig injections
and
Accupuncture

My Mom gets migraines and does botox injections for them. I get headaches on the left side of my head where my head exploded during first psychosis

I can’t help…i only get tension headaches infrequently and bad headaches only when I’ve had ECT. I don’t even know what a migraine feels like.

I’m in agreement with the menopause connection and the decrease of estrogen, etc. Mine have also increased dramatically. But I’ve also noted a decrease in their intensity. I’ll take it!!

With menopause, mine increased in both frequency and intensity. It’s only 15 years after menopause that I’m finally getting relief with the advent of multiple, brand new migraine drugs and treatments.

When I did meth I started getting the visuals of the migraine with no headache then years later I now get the visuals and usually a sick head feeling. I know it’s coming in cause it gets hard to see what I’m looking directly at. This expands to a big portion of my left field of vision. Literally flashing colorful shapes. Then I get a minor headache. I had a headache from smoking for over a decade. Finally started vaping and it has gone.

The above mentioned pulsing lights changed to the patterns after i put a big watertank on the other side of the wall where is my bed.

Don’t know, these two things have nothing to do with each other, just thinking…

Coincidence

A water with lemon juice is helping a little bit.

Next time after the coffee
