Is it better to be alone or with someone who is inadequate for you?

I’d say be alone…
When I was younger, I had lots of so-called friends, but they were not nice people
It took a rehabilitation programme for me to see that I was being used for the drugs in my back pocket.
Now if I were to find someone, it would have to involve 50/50 effort, as I am not propping up anyone anymore.
Inadequacy will lead to exploitation if you’re not careful
My opinion is that both situations are equally bad.
I’d say it is better to be alone most of the time, but i guess it depends on what they are exactly inadequate in?
“Inadequate” is a big word. Do you mean intellectually inadequate? Sexually inadequate? Emotionally inadequate? Or just generally not up to snuff? It is possible you might find yourself alone if your standards are too high. I intend to spend the rest of my life alone, but it is due to my own inadequacies.
