Which illness is stigmatized the most…?
I’d say it’s a tie between Schizophrenia, diabetes and lung cancer.
Schizophrenia because people keep asking questions like “did trauma in your childhood cause it?” and “are you dangerous off your meds?”
Diabetes becacuse in my country, it’s considered a lifestyle disease, meaning you don’t get any help in paying for insulin. My friend has type 1½, and he has to shell out large amounts of money each month for insulin. He’s had to sell some of his belongings a few times in order to afford it.
And lung cancer becacuse it’s also considered a self-inflicted lifestyle disease. People tend to say things like “people with lung cancer should pay for treatment themselves” and such, and it breaks my heart. Sure, smoking increases the risk of lung cancer. But obesity increases the risk of heart complications, and you don’t hear anyone saying “fat people shouldn’t be put on the transplant list”…
HIV/AIDS is pretty heavily stigmatized.
I once talked to a girl who came from a wealthy family. We talked about HIV/AIDS, and she said “well, no one here (in Norway) has AIDS”. I asked her why, and she said “AIDS is for poor people, there are no poor people here”…
I’d say schizophrenia and HIV/AIDS are tops.
I’d say sz, bipolar, HIV, lung cancer and emphysema are the top most stigmatized diseases.
I think I’d say, Down syndrome, since they say, you should have aborted, and schizophrenia, since they buy into the system of big pharma.
leprosy and sz are on par
Any STD i reckon like Syphilis etc…
HiV Aids
Schizophrenia
like herpes, honey? thank God I never got that, and I’ve been reckless.
BTW I am drawing power from this thread 100%

One isn’t the most stigmatized but I would say it is very stigmatized, it is ASPD.
Asperger’s? Not sure what you mean.
Anti social personality disorder.
I’d say Obesity, AIDS/HIV, Addiction and schizophrenia in that order!
Yeah I was going to say that addiction is highly stigmatized as well.
