When do you know you're ready to go back to work?

I don’t know if I will be able to get my weight down if I don’t go back to work. I’m not as smart as I used to be and my memory is really terrible but I might be able to handle a mundane job. I just wish I was sure I could handle the stress without going off the rails again. It’s been about 4.5 years since I left work. What are your ideas/stories?

I am trying to go back to work too. I haven’t worked since 2014. I don’t know if I will be able to do it but I can’t get anyone to hire me.

I have probably applied for 100 jobs since I finished school in May but so far nothing. I got one interview in Arizona but my wife says we can’t move there so I have been applying to everything I think I am qualified for in the Florida panhandle on the Gulf Coast.

I applied for a mortgage to buy a house in Florida today so I hope I find something. My lease isn’t up on my rental but if I find a job I am going to move early.

Good luck to you

wow, that seems like it would be discouraging. I’m impressed that you keep on trying. What kind of job are you looking for? I was thinking I would just go be a cashier, but I feel so uncomfortable around people it might stress me out a lot.

I am tying to get a job in the aviation industry or with the federal government.

Can you try volunteering?

I tried working and well it didn’t turn out so well. It was my mistake going back to work.

Now I still believe I am much more capable. I love working! Just the stress that comes with it…

@MissMermaid I think all of the volunteer jobs are filled up with the CalWORKs people here. I live in a town with 3000 people (the county seat) and 50% are on assistance I would bet

I haven’t worked in 21 years and no one will hire me so it is a moot question. I work at a volunteer job. That’s good enough for me. Besides, I’m only a few years away from retirement age anyway.

You are ready to go back to work when you wake up in the morning and want to go to work.

I’m trying to get a job to

@Manonmoon where have you been applying?

I’ve gone through my disabilty agent. It’s hard saying I’m a sick person.

Oh I don’t have an agent, how do I get one?

You know you’re ready when you can spend all day doing the activity you are applying for without a problem and you feel you can do it many days a week repeatedly.

My husband fired the office manager today so I have to work whether I like it or not. I was only working part time but it will have to be full time for me until we find a new office manager.

It’s hard at first but gets better and even can be rewarding and good for recovery. I wasn’t ready to go back but did a lot of recovery on the job.

When the pressure in my head is satisfactorily low, to where I feel relaxed when reading technical material. Getting there gradually.

This is my goal as well. As soon as I feel good and confident to go start applying I have a night of chaos that sets me back. I love working and have since I was small. It’s the social interaction thst has me worried
