What's your speech like?

I wish we could use more nonverbal communication like animals. I get the quiet voice thing too. It’s like my vocal cords disagree with what i’m trying to do. And it messes up one of my favorite hobbies, singing. : /

I use sign a lot with people that can or phone notes note book are other ways to “talk” easier if my brother or other family member is around.

As for singing I did in middle school for a bit enjoy singing now sing with my dad in the truck does not matter if sound is coming out or not I am singing I am enjoying it.

Like I am trying to learn to play the guitar it must be hell on my dad it is fun and hard

Not talking or talking very quietly is not a limiting factor it only is if we make it one

Being mute or deaf or having some speeh issues seems very odd to most people that they have no idea what to do.

Yes other way to talk I think should be in schools etc. so ASL is not this thing only some people do it should be a option like French or German etx

The times I seen my brother go “oh she does not talk” to some one and get the "oh that’s must be so hard"
And we list off everything I do that shuts them up.

Do think people would learn a lot if they stopped talking and listened.

Sorry I ranted a bit

I talk quickly or too quietly most of the time. I have yet to get the word salad issue, which is great.

My speech has a mid-western twang in it. Oklahoma is where the mid-western twang meets the southern drawl. Any time I give a speech in public it sucks. Maybe I should work on my speech delivery, but I really doubt if I will be giving any speeches soon.

I believe I’m exceptional on the telephone. I immediately get the person’s first name and use it often. I pay close attention to my intonation and the person’s intonation.I have dozens of other tips regarding getting what you want.

My philosophy is this: I want to make everyone’s day as easy as possible.

I tend to talk too fast. I usually talk softly except when I’m excited then I talk faster and louder. Or when i am angry I raise my voice to a shout. I am very shy on the phone then I either talk too fast or stammer. When the sz or depression hits I talk slower or mumble to myself.

The other thought I had on tho was accents as mine can make me hard to understand with how softly I talk. For added fun

I used to have big problems with it. Then slowly over that last 2 years I have gotten the ability to talk normally back again. For the most part.

After seeing some of the comments I talk really softly as well. I have been asked to speak up on many occasions and I usually tell the person “no”.

for the listener’s sake, eh? though speaking louder can be hard.

Apparently there is a vacuum attached to my head that steals all my thoughts mid sentence which sucks otherwise I talk so slow that people love to cut me off. Hummph!

I talk slowly. Like i have to think between words what word i should use next, while trying not to forget what i was trying too say and not to stray. I dont “auto respond” i think a lot about what im saying while trying to say it, unfortunately i dont think very fast. I like writing because its hard for people to tell how “disorganized” and slow my mind is:p

After thinking about this more and talking with my brother that he pointed out I talk fine when I am using my native language.

When I use English ( I really dislike ) is nice to write with but speaking is bad  with native speak I am fine and can chatter a bit

Only sing in native too tho I am told I change languages as I sing with out knowing I am.

Just some thoughts

Very nice voice @Orion11!

Thank you. I love to sing. I’d sing all day if I could. It’s probably helped me with my speech. When my voice is a struggle to control I use some singing technique, get the voice supported by the diaphragm.

I don’t like to hear my voice recorded, and always hope it wasn’t me. Sometimes I talk too much, but the psych tech told another p tech in front of me that “she’s always mute when she comes in” Oh?
I also use ‘signs’ when speech gets tough, but sign language is different in all languages (figures, why isn’t there a ‘universal’ non verbal language?),
I get asked frequently where in the south I’m from, but that’s only when I’m tired.

Occasionally I’ll find foreign words in my speech I’m unaware of, but languages are the least of my problem communicating.

All I need to know in this world to communicate when in another country is the word ‘Toilet.’
