Since being on meds (about a year and 2 months now) I have not had the some energy level or motivation I used to have. I’m not sure if I am just uninspired because I don’t have a ton to do or if it’ because of the meds. I stay in bed long after I have woken up because I am hung over on my meds. I don’t do my hair and make-up nearly as often as I used to. I find myself just ‘slumming it’ a lot more often. Do you struggle with energy and motivation too? I’m hoping when I start college in 3 weeks it will give my energy a bump. Sometimes activity does that.
I’ve actually improved a lot with energy and motivation lately. I’m moving in 26 days and I’ve been VERY VERY pro-active with everything that goes along with moving. not being lazy at all. this is unlike me. maybe it has to do with being sober.
My energy level is pretty low. I take stimulants ( Adderall and Caffeine) to help counter act my low energy from my Abilify, but I think it hardly works. Going to work everyday is a struggle. My motivation is okay, just my energy is low.
@turningthepage, how long have you been sober? Are you recovering from drugs or alcohol or both?
Mine is about average to high. It all depends on the day for me. Hopefully I’ll scone more energetic as I become more fit and loose some weight.
Not bad, although I can have more energy and motivation but if it remains this way,I am satisfied too
Alcohol, shrooms, ecstasy, lsd and marijuana were my drugs. I’ve been sober 72 days.
Congratulations on your sobriety! Keep up the good work.
Maybe it’s not the illness or meds. Maybe I’m just lazy, haha. I’d like to think not. It’s definitely worse since I got sick and have been on meds.
I was given olanzapine 5 years ago but failed to respond to it so have been on clopixol the 5 years since then. Spent the last 3 years doing very intensive brain training and then was started on olanzapine again 2 months ago. This time I’m responding really well to olanzapine and the past month my motivation in my job is excellent and I’m able to work a full day every day.
I reckon that the brain training made the difference, and I went from a failed responder to olanzapine to an excellent responder because of the training.
How is this brain training?
I just started cognitive training yesterday and I think it’ll improve my cognitive impairments. In the training I had to watch parts of a video about NLP and had to explain about it. The training made me work my brain. Sad it’s just once a week. I would do this kind of training everyday.
Energy motivation superb on a higher dose of rexulti. Im bout to ask my pdoc if I can increase it. On an average dose rexulti motivation is just fine. Executive functioning deficit can be blamed for inability to do planned activities, even that isn’t as marked as it once was.
On an average day, it’s zip point shat.
Ii have been ever so ‘slightly’ better in the last few days but my energy could still use a boost. I blame med hangover like I said. School starts in less than 2 weeks. Hope I can hang.
Energy levels are variable. Some days it’s harder to do the exercise bike than others. General motivation is a long term problem that may be exacerbated by the medication.
My energy is amazing but unfortunately it’s not in my body but elsewhere n in others so my real body is exhausted and gets negativity programmed attacked etc.
I am very happy with my energy levels the problem is it gets stolen.
Rum,cattle, wing tied n cut ,computers designed to take it etc
So my body is exhausted and others like to feel like me and want put there … On me.
I get attacked because of my energy n money etc
bullied too.
Understand that negativity problem.
Sorry if you feel it here in a support forum.
Yea there are people in real life that are always criticizing everything.
and the attacked feeling, well that’s just part of sz you know…
in real life I have tried positivity attacks in response
no matter what they say, just don’t let turkeys get you down.
Use your high energy to have some fun out there in the real world.
Peace to all.
hi. I am on abilify and find it helps me sleep much better and so I feel more rested and have a more healthy energy instead of my second or third wind.
judy
I think aripiprazole makes me sleep as olanzapine did (I sleep 10-12 hours).
I’m not quite motivated to go to college, but at least I’m not in bed all time. In the first year of my disease, my energy was very low.
