Only haldol,

  4. Zyprexa
  5. Risperdal

I’ve been on everything over the years…now I’m just on clozapine, Haldol, trazadone, and Cymbalta. So far they’ve been the best, haven’t been in hospital since August.

Ritalin and concerta:
Gave me tics

Mianserin:
Made me eat like crazy and have vivid horrible nightmares plus mania
I’ve tried other antidepressants, all of them made me manic and/or psychotic.

Abilify: crazy weight gain, worked fine for symptoms until I made the mistake of going off them. No effect afterwards.

Risperdone:
Crazy weight gain, crazy appetite, sedation, mind fog.

Invega: emotional numbing, fatigue

Seroquel:
Heavy sedation. Extreme thirat.
I still take it as a prn.

Latuda:
Worked great for positive, but gave me nausea, jaw clenching, and a rash.

Sycrest/Saphris:
Hands down the best med I’ve ever tried.
Stabilises my mood, keeps the positives away. Good energy, no brain fog, and if I take them at night I fall asleep right away with no lasting sedation.

I’m on the last 4 now, they work well :+1:

High prolactin can cause breast cancer if left alone. Men can also get breast cancer.

It can happen for guys as well and can cause a condition called gynecomastia where you grow boobs.

I’ve had something like gynecomastia as a teen. Felt like large nodules under my nipples. It got away by itself, but cancer would be a completely different story… :face_with_head_bandage:

My Dr didn’t seem to care about my high prolactin. How high should it be to cause breast cancer in men?

I’m a bit of a light-weight here in med count:

Olanzapine - 10mg made me groggy and put on a lot of weight, but I could work full time. Had to give it up due to high Triglyceride levels in the blood which is a precursor to heart disease.

Ablilify - 10mg gave me bad akathesia and didn’t take care of my symptoms.

Risperidone - Can’t remember the dosage, 2mg I think. It mostly worked, but I was VERY sensitive to caffeine, alcohol and stress and couldn’t really relax while I was on it. Couldn’t work.

Rexulti - 2mg was my first dose. Almost worked well, but wore off in the mornings before I took my next dose. Switched to 4mg (current dose) and my symptoms are gone, but I was feeling flat.

Escitalopram - Tried this for anxiety. Was completely ineffective.

Brintellix/Trintellix - 15mg (current dose) works a treat. Gave me pep back in my step and I feel good. Only side effect is mild nausea in the morning. Alcohol kills the good effect and it takes days to start working again, so I’m becoming a teetotaller.

I wouldn’t know I’m not a doctor sorry! Maybe ask your family physician/GP. Or even better bring it up with your pdoc and ask why they are not concerned. Maybe yours isnt at a dangerous level who knows.

Quetiapine - worsened psychosis, lucid dreaming.
Olanzapine - no effect
Lithium - felt nothing, calming
Aripiprazole - good experience, no more voices so far.

In that order. Aripiprazole was the only one that worked for me.
