I was on speed and seeing shadow people. Didn’t allow myself to fall asleep cause I thought they’d get me. I stayed up for three days. That’s the longest I’ve ever stayed awake.
not sure, anywhere between 4 to 5 days, but i think 4 days. This was during my economics degree - I’d dose high on modafinil to keep myself working/studying.
The longest I have stayed awake is two weeks. It was not a good experience at all. Near the last three days I was having some serious auditoru hallucinations unlike any I had ever dealt with before. I wasn’t on any drugs, I just could not sleep.
I have read several articles that stated prolonged lack of sleep can cause symptoms similar to those of psychosis on anyone, even those who do not suffer from a mental illness. Sleep is very important.
2 days 15 character
2 whole days, so 48 hrs
Sorry you suffered this @Mr_Hope it must have been a brutal experience.
What happened in the end after 11 days, did you finally sleep naturally or needed to go back on zyprexa?
Im curious because im taking this med too.
I’ve seen those people on speed
When i was a kid,
there was
in same area an old gypsy
that -they said- hadn’t slept
for decades.
I had to give up and go back on zyprexa. I wish someone had warned me that zyprexa could cause such insomnia. Now I have settled for taking zyprexa for some years. No apparent ways for me to get off zyprexa at this time.
The longest I ever was awake was five days while manic and psychotic af. I have skizzle-affective bipolar-type. I crashed down from the mania the night I was taken to a hospital by police, finally went to sleep shortly after getting on the unit. But yeah because of the mania I not only was never tired during those five days, I was quite overwhelmed with energy the whole time. Yep, fun times as a medical student ![]()

I had no idea I was near to the world record. I do remember it being a horrible experience. The last day I was really hearing a horrible voice, like a gremlin, goblin, or gnome. Just some demonic high pitched voice. It was telling me that it was going to kill me, eat me, and my family. It felt incredibly real. Like a living nightmare. I remember the last day before I was finally able to sleep, I was so terrified I was crawling on the floor so as to avoid being seen through any window. Eventually, I was afraid to move at all. I laid there mortified and finally fell asleep. The whole experience was hellish. I’ve never had voices like that and haven’t since.
